Joe Girardi watch

You would certainly think so but, goodness, figured it would have already happened like three other times by now, and am starting to wonder if ownership truly just doesn't care enough to make a switch. And, I'm not even saying this is all his fault. Some of the ways they lose are on Little League type plays. But, at some point, he's the manager, and it all falls on him.

Segura out, on 10 day IL with broken finger.

Does not appear to be any light in this tunnel.

yeah, I feared it was a broken finger the way he reacted, and how he took himself out of the game right away. It happened when he bunting a pitch, and the ball hit him on the hand.

Girardi is determined to make Knebel the man. Or maybe he's the best they have in the foolpen.

Well that was a good win heading into the off day. Great to see Maton have a big night as well. Really like his game.

Long time Phillies fan. Phillies are snake bit and have been for a long time with brief periods of excellence / luck?

Did you not expect this after the team spent all the $$$ on the roster this year? Underperformance and now injuries ... Bryce - elbow, Segura - finger, I think Realmuto is hurt but playing through it.

Minor leagues and player development is their Achilles heel. Has been forever.

Relievers .. I generally believe the year the Phillies sign them is generally the worse year of their career. The next year they are all universe for another team. LOL

Maton last night played big. Why is he in the minors ....

Well, here we sit on Friday, June 3, 12.5 back in the division and 5.5 back in the wildcard. Somehow the manager is still employed. It actually feels someone incredible that they have a positive run differential (albeit +1).

Maybe this is the weekend they get going and take off. But, I doubt it.

It's official.

This may appease an angry fan base (as if THIS was the main team problem LOL), but not sure how changing the manager improves the bullpen's ability to actually get outs when almost all (except Dominguez) have been equally ineffective. o_O

Dombrowski said that "all share responsibility", which is true...but MORE responsibility is on the one who assembles the roster (him) than on the one who simply picks who will play on a given day from that pre-determined list of names.

In reality this is completely meaningless, except that it does now expose the GM since he can't blame the manager for said bullpen's inability to get outs and hold leads. 🤷‍♂️

Didi hurt, Segura hurt, Harper relegated to DH, moniak just coming back, half the starters should be in Lehigh Valley, bullpen continues to struggle, Hoskins hitting .222, Schwarber hitting .192, - - - obviously all the manager's fault.
I hear ya though I just felt a change needed to be made. It was time. Not his fault but he didn’t help matters either.

Dombrowski blatantly ignored the team’s Achilles heel from the past several years. Again. So here we are in the exact same place.

They had to do something to spark the team. I don't see much changing. They're in trouble, but if they can spark a few series wins in the coming weeks, we'll see.

So far, they seem to be the worst combination possible: overpaid, content veterans who lack drive.

The Phillies and Manchester United are the modern case studies in how not to run a pro sports franchise.

The team is so upset with Girardi’s departure that they have scored 7 runs so far tonight.

Late to the discussion, but, if you have a chance, take a look at the Phillies minor league stats. The farm system offers almost no hope. There is a kid catching in AA who has decent numbers and a couple of pitchers in A ball, otherwise, there are no young kids putting up good numbers, never mind great numbers.

Everyone in the organization has come up short. Until the minors start to produce real major league players, free agents are all they have. And that‘s a bad formula.

Yet again, a wonderful play on offense ruined by more bad bullpen play and defense. I just can’t imagine getting that blast to tie it then doing what Knebel and Hoskins just combined to do. Very frustrating. We’ll see what the bottom of the ninth has in store but I bet not much.

That little kid jumping around is awesome. The beauty of baseball.
His prayers were answered. Great job by the Phillies camera crew and the announcers. That little guy will be a life long fan.

Yes he will. Good stuff.

Important day off today and then a big series in Milwaukee. I'm not getting too excited just yet but that was a great weekend.
