Angels fired Joe Maddon today. Guess that’s what you get for letting Iglesias pitch to Harper, who has ridiculous stats against him!

wow, Maddon is a good manager. That said, I think the As were in streak of 12 straight losses (+ or -) at the end of the series with the Phillies.

Nice win with a couple homers in the top of the ninth. OTOH, Knebel is a blown save waiting to happen with three walks in the bottom half of the inning. A WHIP of 1.3+ is unacceptable for a closer.

Whew. 9th inning comeback by Phillies. Homers by Bohm and Vierling and then unable Knebel comes in and walks the bases loaded with two outs and gets the final strikeout. Knebel cannot be the closer, Dominguez needs that job.

Plus they hit two homers and scored two runs off the Brewers elite reliever, Hader, who has not given up a run since last July, one extra base hit this season, 4 hits in 19 appearances, and he needed one more scoreless inning to set an MLB record of 41 consecutive scoreless appearances! And it was Bohm and Vierling!!!

Great win last night. Can't say I saw Bohm and Veiral breaking Hader's scoreless streak, but here we are.

Another big one tonight.

What is happening here……? Heard harper’s where he talked about the young guys playing, but I don’t know if I believe that’s all there is to it. what is sparking this?

Krukie said something interesting the day after Joe was fired. He said that if he was on a team and the manager was fired mid-season, he figured he (Krukie) was at least partially responsible. He said a lot of the guys felt the same way - they were responsible for getting the manager fired because they weren't playing well enough. And that would cause the players to play a little bit harder and be more focuses.

6-0 bottom of the 7th. Looking good boys. All of a sudden they're 3.5 back of the wild card.

More importantly, they have Arizona, Miami, Washington and Texas coming up. Time to go on a serious run.

Oh, and Pete Alonso is hurt. They need to take advantage right now. Great start.

Phillies start June 6-0. Last time they did that was 1978.
Yeah, and the last manager to win this many of his first games in a row was back in 1915. History, we'll take it!

That June stat is crazy. Just amazing that they've never started June on this kind of hot streak.

8 innings, 4 hits, ZERO walks. Awesome effort by Nola.
It really was. He can be really good, which makes the times he isn't all the more frustrating. Had great control, was hitting his spots, and didn't give into the dreaded two out hit parade like he is known to do.

Big win. I really wanted to see how the Phillies rebounded tonight. Big win, especially with Alcantra on the mound.

That’s winning baseball. Scwarber K’d on a pitcher’s pitch. Filthy. Hoskins steps up and does what a good hitter does. A base hit wins it so approach the AB with looking to just hit something up the middle (or close enough). No pull happy just use the diamond to your benefit. That’s a nice piece of hitting.
