Awful effort tonight. Team appears listless. Can’t get hits with RISP.

definitely disappointing, with Nola on the mound. The Mets got timely hits, while for the most part the Phightins got baserunners but not breakthrough hits.

Nola kind of underlines the gap between the two teams right now. He’s be no 4-5 on the Mets staff. He’s no 2 for the Phillies despite being ho-hum.

They need to spilt this series and move on. There’s a reason the Mets came in 10.5 games up on them. It’s just a superior team top to bottom right now.

Nola has been very good this year. But agree with your point. Wheeler, Nola, and Suarez in a series. What about Gibson? Catching the Mets won't happen. But, playing better needs to. Lack of situational hitting and with RISP always drives me crazy. When watching the best teams, that seems the be one of the bigger differentiators. Need to get Castellanos hot the rest of the way.

When I watch Castellanos bat, it appears to me he has very little plan or focus at all on what he is doing. He appears out of place when he hits. He also is a defensive liability in right field. I do not understand why none of his throws to the plate are not cut off as he does not have the arm strength to throw anyone out. Stott needs to be the lead off hitter. Segura should bat second then Hoskins and Realmuto. Bohm, et al,should follow in the lineup. When Harper gets back, put him back to batting third and move Segura to bat fifth and Hoskin bat second. Maybe swap Schwarber with Bohm to bat 5th. Schwarber is not a lead off hitter, IMO. Move Castellanos down in the lineup. I would not be surprised if the Phillies struggle to make a wild card spot during the remainder of the season despite their perceived easier schedule. Can’t score runs if you don’t hit.

The national TV broadcasts create a gauge vacuum (i.e. "suck"). I don't care if its Fox, Apple, Amazon, Peacock, et al, they all create a gauge vacuum.

I'd much rather listen/watch T Mac/Reuben/Ben/Krukky than listen/watch the national baseball experts on these networks.

However, I do believe this is a harbinger of things to come in all sports: if you want to watch Phillies baseball, you'll need some sort of cable, Peacock, Apple, etc and half the time these national guys won't have the insight and local knowledge that T Mac et al do.

The same thing will happen to college sports - multiple and most likely overlapping coverage.

All those big dollar TV contracts for the BIG, SEC, MLB, NFL, etc - we're all going to be paying for them.

Good call! You certainly know your baseball. lol
You watch the first inning, which is when I posted that?

“Bailey Falter threw 26 pitches in the first inning, just 12 of which were strikes. The Philadelphia Phillies’ spot starter allowed one run to score on a bases-loaded wild pitch in an ugly opening frame.”

You certainly know your baseball. He is 1-3 with a 4.40 ERA, gave up 45 hits, 22 earned runs, 10 homers, 13 walks. Yeah a great pitcher! A blind squirrel finds a nut every so often.

But you must admit, he did pitch a good game. Falter could get a little momentum and confidence off of a game like yesterday.

My brother in law went to the Friday game and game 1 on satrurday. Had tickets for game 2 and didn’t go last night. Was totally disgusted by the atmosphere, the Mets fans he said took over the stadium. How can this happen to a team that is fired up for a post season run? To fans who haven’t seen a contender since Ryan Howard was playing. It is embarrassing. I guess it is football season now, who cares.

Unless the Mets fans were azzholes (and I'm sure a few were), why be disgusted? Think back ~10 years ago when Phillies fans would take over Citi Field and Nationals Park. I winning team draws its fans to road games. That's just the nature of sports.

I think he just expected it to be a really difficult series for the Mets because of the Philly home field. A series that was huge. He was just shocked that it was so mixed. Mets players said they were surprised how many fans were there for them.

Met fans having been going to games in Philly forever. It's cheaper than Citi Field and getting here is easy from central and northern Jersey. Add in they are a serious contender and nothing has surprised me this weekend. They didn't seem so boisterous last night. Scoreboard is the great equalizer.

Isn’t this one of the things that make the NY-Philly “Turnpike” rivalry so great?

Phillies spit the bit as Brogdon gives up a 3 run dinger to Canha. 7-7 in the 7th.

I would have been disgusted if I were at today's game, and this is what I saw throwing out the 1st pitch:

good grief. Robertson gives up a leadoff double, and then a HR to Canha in the top of the 9th. Now 9-8, Mets.

This does not help. While Knebel hasn't been as good as the Phightins had hoped, he had been doing pretty well until quite recently. From multiple reports I've seen today, it seems unlikely that he'll pitch again this season.

His injury is likely career ending.
