You got your WS last year. Let us have a turn!!
I have to admit it's a lot less nerving watching games like today with the memories of last year. You got your WS last year. Let us have a turn!!
Yeah, interesting. One of my favorite listens (Gill Alexander) is a big proponent of baseball analytics, but is always adamant that you throw them out in the post season.@MrTailgate -- recall you complaining (rightfully so) about the Phils not bunting in the 9th in a game in September.
What got in to them today? I believe they've bunted 3 times (once by Harper), and Schwarber looked to bunt in one at bat but pulled it back on a ball. I don't recognize this team (in a good way).
come on Brogden. He got an out, then gives up a single, then a double, then a double, so the Braves score 2. 7-3, Phils, with 1 out in the bottom of the 5th.
I thought the same. I'm in favor of not seeing him.Brian Snitker was just asked if we'll see Strider in Game 3 and he immediately responded no, only to back track then and say oh, well, maybe.
Kinda felt like he let one slip there. Would be great if the Phillies don't have to face him in Philly.
Wow, that was some sensational pitching, what speed. I wouldn’t bother swinging, hope I get a walk.Massive inning there by Seranthony Domínguez. Huge to get through those top three batters after the last inning.
Castellanos’ catch reminded me of the Mets’ Ron Swoboda in the 1969 WS.Baseball Fever, Catch It! Now 7-6 in the 9th and Castellanos makes a sliding catch that would have gone for a triple if the ball had gotten past him. One out later it’s game over, 7-6, great drama.
He’s feeling pretty good about himself right now.Castellanos the obvious MVP of the game.
And may that continue into tomorrow. He’s feeling pretty good about himself right now.
Just a question. Why not have Alvarado pitch two innings? He appears to have better stuff vs their top of order.
They needed to save alvarado for game 2. You have to trust eflin to be able to hold a 4 run lead. If that was 2 runs or less alvarado would’ve gone back out. There’s a good chance you’ll see alvarado for 2 innings tomorrow if wheeler doesn’t go 7+. If he goes 7 it’ll be alvarado seranthony to end it.Just a question. None of those were called from the bench, not even Veirling’s. After the game Thomson said he’d like to see them swing the bat (at least Schwarber and Bryce). This is getting interesting. That 93 team would drink as long as the beer was cold after the game talking about the game, situations, etc. I see a team right now locked in and each guy doing whatever he can to help and “pass the baton” to the next guy after hoping to set them up better. In STL, you saw players sharing info on the pitchers stuff, etc. These guys are locked in wanting to give themselves up to help the next guy. What does that say? It says to me that they are a VERY confident group who have all bought in.@MrTailgate -- recall you complaining (rightfully so) about the Phils not bunting in the 9th in a game in September.

I’m not a Big Ben Davis fan but I did agree. It should have been Eflin 8 and Alvarado 9. Eflin didn’t get the greatest breaks. Acuna should have been 6-3,one gone. Why are you shifting up 4 to start the ninth? Swanson legit double, Riley K and then Olson. I don’t think anyone off the bat thought that was gone. If Eflin gives up 1 on a Sac Fly, nobody is saying anything. Eflin is going to pitch to contact, I’d think about the order based on where they are in the lineup. They needed to save alvarado for game 2. You have to trust eflin to be able to hold a 4 run lead. Brogdon should’ve been left off the roster for this series. He hasn’t pitched well in weeks.I’m not a Big Ben Davis fan but I did agree. It should have been Eflin 8 and Alvarado 9. As to tomorrow, I’d say EVERYONE is available. Hopefully that doesn’t include Brogdon. Worst mound demeanor I’ve seen in a LONG time.
You play the best defense to take away the most hits regardless of score. People only notice when the shift doesn’t work, it’s frustrating but more times than not it will work outI’m not a Big Ben Davis fan but I did agree. It should have been Eflin 8 and Alvarado 9. Yes, I understand that and I guess that hitters have been stubborn since Williams who always maintained that if he got his pitch, he’d simply hit it through the shift. The proof of the pudding will be next year. If some guys have crazy offensive years with no shift then I’ll agree. But my guess is that eliminating the shift will NOT nearly have the offensive impact that the suits want. Maybe I’m crazy but every guy now is obsessed on launch angle so by default are they not trying to lift everything which would seem to neutralize the shift? I’m old and I understand what the book says but I hate it.You play the best defense to take away the most hits regardless of score. I’ll have to watch him more but if he throws 95 and it’s straight, that 95 gets turned around big time. He has zero confidence and I’d really work on him developing something softer (change) or something that moves (like Alvarado did with his cutter). Straight and 95 is a recipe to get you whacked.I was unable to watch the 9th but saw everyone else on the mound and I agree that Brogdon was the only one that looked like the moment was too big for him.
