Trea Turner continues to kill it since the fan intervention a few weeks ago. 3 run HR to put the Phils up 6-5.

Kimbrel having another disaster. He's given up 3 runs in the top of the 9th, which the Phils entered leading 8-7, and it's now 8-10. smh

Now that the hitting has finally come around the bullpen is starting to unravel. Not looking good for September.

They won the series. Bats are on fire. Kimbrel has been having a good year. He will be fine. The team is determined and they have great chemistry. Let’s enjoy the ride.

It’s easy to point to Kimbrel but he started the inning with a K-WP that Stubbs will tell you he should have blocked. Bleeder past Stott and you’re first and third nobody out. Flyout and Ohtani K and you should be celebrating.

They lost because Soto and Seranthony are tightropes now as well and didn’t do the job. The pen gave up 5 runs. Kruk was on the money saying that tired arm is command problem more than velo. I was shocked last night when they got Kimbrel up. We will see if Kimbrel is leaking oil but getting him up last night after using him the last couple of days didn’t help him today.

afraid we've seen what will kill their chances come playoff time. almost never get the same performance from the pen night to night. you can't give games away in the playoffs due to lack of consistency. they need a couple you can count on every night. haven't seen them yet.

Yeah, I didn’t like them getting Kimbrel up last night either. He didn’t come in but he was heating up pretty hard in the bullpen. It takes its toll.

Ugh, Turner 3 run bomb caps 4 run eighth, but Alvarado wildness and a Bohm error open the floodgates for the Brew Crew. Down 7-5 heading to the ninth.

yeah, looked like the magic was continuing with Turner's blast. But Alvarado's wildness, and then Bohm whiffing on the grounder to third, changed the tenor pretty quickly. The Fightins struck out far too many times tonight.

Phil’s win 4-2….
Today was an important bounce back. They had to take one in Milwaukee.

I don’t love this year’s team, but my aunt wisely pointed out that they’re still hitting the home runs.

They just aren’t hitting them with base runners, which is keeping the scores down right now.

Get a few more guys on and they’ll be back at 9-10 runs a game fast.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that they had to take one in Milwaukee, in large part because the baseball season is pretty elastic. You can win games in bunches, or incrementally, etc. (Until you get to the last week of the season, and need to win X games to make the playoffs, I don't put too much importance in any particular game.)

But on the flip side, the way they had lost the last 3 games did make this game seem more important. Their offense had enabled them to take leads in a few of those games but then their bullpen/defense gave away the games. In that context, it was nice to have their bats enable them to once again come from behind, and also to see their bullpen keep them in the game, and then save it after they took the lead. Plus the Brewers had been every bit as hot as the Phillies coming into the series, and they should be a factor in the MLB playoffs, so it was good for the Fightins to not get swept by them.

Phillies in process of blowing an 8-1 lead over the Padres. Now 9-7 bottom of 8 & Kimbrel shaky again. Yikes!!!
