With the portal, roster numbers are a fluid situation.Currently there are 18 in this class... Are there 5 or 6 spots left?
Is it DL OL WR QB and RB?

Might not have long to wait for a replacement WR for the class.
Carmelo Taylor, WR from Roanoke, VA, scheduled to announce his choice on 7/31.
Win some and lose some when you're recruiting against the defending National Champs.
I wouldn't get your hopes up, but you never know for sure:
Him throwing at Elite 11 pro day.
Looks like crystal balls already coming in after the offer.
Yep, and there seem to be very few uncommitted OT's at this point. A great interior OL duo, maybe the highest rated inside pair ever for PSU. But a while ago it looked like PSU was going after a 6 man OL class for 2023 with at least 3 OT's, and now it looks like PSU will be fortunate to get to 4 total. Roster seems to be begging for at least 2 quality OT's for this class. Hope the staff proves me wrong!!Evan Link (OL) Gonzaga HS DC committed to Michigan today
Bummer as he was a high priority PSU prospect for the OL. PSU needs quality OTs in this class.
The guy that used to run Saint Frances is now an assistant coach again at Michigan. The kids that he recruited from all over the country to come to Saint Frances are guys that are all expecting a large sums of money to go play somewhere in college.FYI. The OT from NE Philly that PSU has interest in , Bertrand, appears to have transferred to St. Frances Academy in Baltimore and now is crystal balled to TX A&M. Isn’t that the school that the HC isn’t a fan of PSU? Didn’t PSU have a kid or two from there committed a few years ago and they both flipped to somewhere else? OK, maybe?
Ok. Yes. That’s what I remember. He was like a corrupt AAU coach. The guy that used to run Saint Frances is now an assistant coach again at Michigan. What about Betrand?is Oluwatosin Babalade MD OT a real option because quality OT's are flying off the board...first Link to Michigan then Ramil to MSU...not looking good at that position

Crystal balls to TX A$M.What about Betrand?
Naquil Betrand, Alabama Crimson Tide, Offensive Tackle

I think the portal may be necessary. Or another JUCO. Bates looked like an All American guard his freshman season also, then was moved all over the place and it seemed to derail his peak potential.OT is looking really rough this year...forget about maybe even getting a B level prospect...PSU might have to settle for a C level type of prospect and at then do u just punt at the position for next year/transfer?...yes could Wiliams, Birchmeier or Donkoh play OT, maybe but they all project best at IOL...that's been a problem for PSU over the years (looking at u Caedan Wallace) - being forced to play guys not at their best position, say where they would project best at the next level but where the team needs them currently to fill out the starting 5 OL
Not getting a top OT or two in this class will likely mean that the starting 2024 OT's are now on the roster. Will Christ continue to develop and end up a starter in his 5th year at PSU, is Shelton really an OT, can Trautwein develop McNeil into a top B10 OT, or Donkah..... The best looking OT with 2024 eligibility on the current roster looks to be Tengwall, a likely starter at Guard this season. Fortunately rosters are more fluid these days......OT is looking really rough this year...forget about maybe even getting a B level prospect...PSU might have to settle for a C level type of prospect and at then do u just punt at the position for next year/transfer?...yes could Wiliams, Birchmeier or Donkoh play OT, maybe but they all project best at IOL...that's been a problem for PSU over the years (looking at u Caedan Wallace) - being forced to play guys not at their best position, say where they would project best at the next level but where the team needs them currently to fill out the starting 5 OL
that's a good point about how fluid rosters are these days...from year to year a team/unit can look very different...i guess that can be a bad thing too but it does offer hope as wellNot getting a top OT or two in this class will likely mean that the starting 2024 OT's are now on the roster. Evan Link committed to Michigan and Stanton Ramil committed to Michigan State. The OL and coaches have to right this ship this season or PSU will continue to miss on high end OTs. Hoping the OL finally becomes a strength.
We are doomed.Evan Link committed to Michigan and Stanton Ramil committed to Michigan State. The OL and coaches have to right this ship this season or PSU will continue to miss on high end OTs. Hoping the OL finally becomes a strength.
I understand your sarcasm, it is not the end, but there is a negative trend which is concerning. We are doomed.
We have 2 top 60 overall OL in this class. Last time we had that in the internet recruiting era? Never.
If you take into account crystal ball projections here's how the other schools stand:
Miami: 2
OSU: 1
ND: 1
LSU: 1
Iowa: 1 (Proctor is from Iowa)
That's it. No Alabama, no Georgia, no Michigan, etc. I don't get the sky is falling mentality with this class all of a sudden. We will add at least one more, sure, but this is already by far the best OL class (on paper) PSU has brought in since the dawn of the recruiting sites.
its not the interior OL prospects we are worried about, that is the strength of this class...its specifically the OT recruits/prospects that PSU is lacking that is at least worrisome or a concern going forward...that should be understandable at the current momentWe have 2 top 60 overall OL in this class. I don't get the sky is falling
Link loss less concerning to me (maybe he liked jimmah's pro-life stance)... Ramil otoh probably wasn't headed our way but at this moment in time is a much bigger loss (although auburn is probably more upset, we have to play against him in the B1G). Kid is big, very bright (dude was offered by Columbia, so he's got some smarts), and he chose msu because of tucker and more so the approach of grinding it out, beating the other team physically. I sense our OL does not have an easily read "theme" and it is hard for a kid to get a feel for where we are headed. Just a thought.. I'm hoping this year and next re-define and re-shape our OL... if so, we should do very well... if not, more issues in running game. With the RB's we have, our running game should be a strength, but the OL needs to make it so.I understand your sarcasm, it is not the end, but there is a negative trend which is concerning.
The current commits are interior OL players, not OTs. That is a problem since the current roster is already low on OT prospects. PSU cannot keep putting players at OT that are interior OLs. It is a problem. We have 2 top 60 overall OL in this class. Last time we had that in the internet recruiting era? Never.
