Second half correction - Kim back to letting her starters play way deep in the game again with Angel sitting quite a bit (message being sent against a mid-major?)

for funsies...go to the LSU board and read their game threads sometime - truly hilarious. Their moderator and posters are all SUPER excited about whooping up on bottom tier talent. As if these games reveal anything at all about the team except that they can beat up on and blow-out the little sisters of the poor, all the while looking classless doing it. Yeah, I get they're all excited about their program and current success, but jeeesh . True perspective or critical analysis is no where to be found with that bunch.

I do find it interesting LSU seemed to turn it on with Morrow in the lineup and Angel on the bench. Luckily for LSU Mikaylah was on today or this could have remained a tight game.

They are quickly becoming one of the least liked teams in America. A very poor representative for the face of women's basketball. They are an arrogant and classless group. Most women's teams tend to be humble and represent the best of college athletics. I think USC has even weathered the storm of the national anthem protest and the BYU fiasco to become GENERALLY well liked and respected. It all starts at the top and if Dawn can tread lightly and keep the politics and other issues at arms length then I think we have another group of girls that we can be proud of! On the other hand, there is no hope for Mulkey and her band of divas....

LSU still giving up 39% shooting on 3's. I thought that number would come down after they played Colorado. Mulkey started Poa to improve the perimeter defense (Poole is actually the better defender, but she was horrible offensively against Colorado). Kent still shot over 40% from 3. The SEC is usually associated with defense. Not so much this year. Looks like it's going to be the Year of Offense in the conference.

watching #4 Utah vs. #21 Baylor . Baylor (lots of SEC transfers on their squad) up 8 w/ 2 minutes To go. Utah had put up some serious pointage in their first two games but sitting at 62 with 6 and change to go. Pac 12 star Alissa Pili sat the whole first half w/ fouls so that has affected their score somewhat as she is clearly their best player/rebounder. They play a lot like Maryland - spread you out, cuts to baskets, and lots of threes.

SC plays Utah in early December on a neutral court. good team but unless they shoot unconscious from 3 (always possible), I like our chances .

Also worth noting this was Utah's first real challenge. The two teams they played before won only 5 games combined all year last season. Utah feels like a 15-25 ranked to me.

Baylor is talented but flopped like a fish on a boat deck.

Utah has top tier talent in pilli and Kneepkems, and the rest of the starting 5 is talented. Their strength is their experience. Don’t think their depth or quickness holds up against us

Pilli is a unique talent. 6’2”, OL mass and strong as can be. She is a walking mismatch in college. I think maybe the only player that can 1v1 stifle her is Cardoso. Oh wait she plays us🤭
I imagine she will try to beat Cardoso by taking her outside and forcing her to defend the jumper. Then try to driving to the basket.

I watched Clemson's game against Mercer. This is a good matchup for us, coming off the last two games, because the Tigers resemble an SEC team like Auburn or Georgia. The starting 5 is a solid defensive unit. Amari Robinson is a grown woman in the post, as you would expect from a 5th year senior. Ruby Whitehorn has a nice mid-range shot. But they definitely lack perimeter shooters in the starting lineup. So vastly different from our last two opponents.

A good test to see if Cardoso can stay out of foul trouble. If Robinson gets in any foul trouble, the Tigers are in for a long night. Chloe had an outstanding game against Maryland. It will be interesting to see if she can repeat that performance against a team that is more physical in the post. I feel like Clemson is an opponent that Feagin could be effective against. But I often feel that way and she mostly plays minutes at the end of games. We'll see.

I would like to see this team get off to a quicker start. When a team has played as well as this one, it's hard to find faults. Slow starts are one of the few I can find. I think our depth will prevail in the game, even if we don't start fast.

I noticed that Whitehorn has been coming off of the bench and that surprised me. Butler's teams always play tough defense so that could be interesting as well but as always I feel like we will just wear them down with our waves of talent ;)

Just to add on some stats and ideas to yours

We have a 12 game win streak against the Tigers. The average margin is 29 points. We won last year 85-31, but that is only the second highest margin. In the ‘14-‘15 season we won
99-41. We have NEVER Scored 100 on them.

The only thing in doubt tomorrow is the margin. I would be mildly surprised if we scored 100 against them. They are a slow paced and very defensive oriented team. Butler is a good coach and she knows how to ugly up a game.

Robinson is a really solid 6’2” PF. She deserves a gold star for staying there 5 seasons. I imagine she could’ve upgraded for her last season. Whitehorn is a real talent. She started the last game but had been coming off the bench.
Cluse 14ppg @ Miami, Ohio; Harris 9ppg at Pitt; and Kramer 17ppg at Lehigh are the portal imports. Enyang and Elmore provide their size.

My bet is that Inyang and Watkins tussle and one or both get Teed up.

Two stats I would pay attention to no matter the score…. all the rebound stats, can we dominate this area. I would also pay attention to our turnovers. Clemson under Butler has been very good at forcing turnovers. We are only turning it over 12 times a game. If we only turn it over 12 times, I would say we did a great job.

All teams with a decent penetrator try this with KC. Often she gets beat on a head fake and drive by. She then tries to block the shot from behind, looks for help, or gives up the basket. To me, and I'm no expert, but this is a weakness in her defense. And, if she is getting beat in college on this move, it will only get worse in the pros where the athletes are better and the help defenders will get beat with better shooting when the ball is passed to the open player.

Inyang didn't play against Mercer. She doesn't appear to have any stats on the season, but she's still listed on the roster. Injured, maybe?

Not sure, she is very physical and I believe she is the player that grabbed Watkins to prevent the Dunk. Nasty stares and dirty words ensued with Ashlynn getting a T.

Throwing another stat out there: Clemson has 2 blocks in 3 games; we have 22 in 2 games.

Again, Clemson is not a bad defensive team, so that stat is surprising. They don't foul very much, so perhaps they are less aggressive by design. Butler wants to keep her bigs out of foul trouble.

Sorry if already posted and I assume it has been -- on which ESPN outlet will her announcement be aired?

Never mind. Got the answer per The State:

The Camden High School five-star girls basketball prospect and No. 2 ranked player in the Class of 2024 will announce her college decision Wednesday night at a ceremony in the school’s gymnasium. The event will be carried nationally on ESPN and streamed on the ESPN app between 6:12 and 6:17 p.m.

I didn't realize Walker is a senior. I assume the plan is she will return next year. We'll be stacked in the post with Walker, Watkins, Feagin, Edwards, Chloe, Tac.

That's assuming Cardoso leaves. Not a given. If Paopao leaves, maybe we will look to the portal for a shooter. We could also add a superstar transfer, a player we can't turn down, regardless of position. But that's a luxury. The roster looks like it can compete for a national championship.

Thoughts?

Walker stated in her initial interview that she was excited about spending 2 years here. The only players I expect to be gone for sure is Cardoso and Pao Pao to the pros.

I don't know how true this is but it's been speculated this is the offer that LSU made. If true I'm not sure how it's even remotely allowed.
