With Joyce Edwards signing, how dId the other SEC Teams fare in recruiting?

Overall it has been a bad year for the SEC. There were 31 5 star players. Only 4 signed with the SEC (ACC had 9)
and 3 of those with us. UT Still holds out real hope for #10 Mikayla Blakes. LSU says they are still in it for #1 Strong and #3 Cambridge but I don’t think so. MacKenley Randolph #21 and Kyomi McMiller #22 are slight possibilities for the SEC

#1 Gamecocks #2 Edwards #12 McDaniel #26 Tac. All 5 star

Big Surprise at #2 UF 5 star #18 PG Alivia McGill #33 Me’Arah O’Neal C They also signed Kylee Kitts

#3 UGA signed 4 players in the top 💯 #73 Trinity Turner, #77 Jamia Woolfolk, twins #66 Indya Davis #93 Summer Davis

Bama #34 Eris Lester,UT #35 Kaniya Boyd, Miss st. #41 Tahiti Bloom, A&M #62 Taliyah Parker(teammate of Tac’s), LSU #97 Jada Richard

Oh, so LSU did get a recruit. I thought they were about to completely strike out on high school recruits this year and they would be heavy in the portal again. The portal is great but you really cant strike out on high school recruits and its surprising that they did coming off the national title. I have my theories as to why they did so poorly but anyone else know why they didnt get anyone other than #97?

Well they did just bring in the number one class. As I recall after our number one class we only brought in Russell.

So in other words we brought in no one.:p Russell was gone quickly and has yet to impact a very poor Kentucky team.

I would still think though, with the portal so big now and wasnt as big then, that they would get more recruits because we know Lithe will be gone, I am sure Reese will be gone, even though she tried to get Joyce to come there saying to play with her. They will have another player or two leave via the portal. If Del Rosario doesnt improve her mindset and conditioning, she will get in Mulkeys doghouse and will transfer as well

I think us missing on her and getting Tac instead is going to be much like when we lost that one top center to UConn (Olivia Nelson something) only to get Boston the next year. Sometimes you win when you lose.

It's hard to go back to back with top recruiting classes especially when that class is 4+ players and you're adding top transfers that have another year of eligibility.

But I think LSU really hurt themselves by really only going after the top 5 recruits. Instead of trying to go after both Joyce and Sarah so hard at the same time they could have used that energy to go after a Merah O'Neal instead. Seems like they had no backup plan and only went for the biggest names. As long as LSU doesn't implode first, they will likely make up for it the portal.

no knock on Russell, but she was obviously way over-ranked and a huge bust as the only recruit in 2020.
However, Cardoso transferring in after that season to technically join that class totally made up for that recruiting mistake.

I liked us signing Russell. She is/was one of those players who is quite gifted physically but just can’t figure out the game, much less the game within the game

Good news/bad news from Coach yesterday in press conference

Good news: We at definitely getting better at our defensive rotations.

Bad news: Because we can’t keep the player we are supposed to guard in front of us

Notre Dame and Maryland are exceptional offensive teams, though. Notre Dame blew the doors off Northwestern last night. But I understand Dawn's not letting this team get complacent. She can't just pat them on the back.

Btw, did you see Citron got injured last night? Notre Dame was up 32 at the time, so the coach is getting criticized. It was still the 3rd quarter, though. Nick Saban plays his starters deep into the 4th in blowouts. And that's football, a sport where players are far more likely to get injured.

Here's the video. ⚠️ it's a little tough to watch.

For a reason that would be a penalty against at defensive player rolling into a QB's legs like that. Hope that girl is ok.

I don't fault the coach especially this early in the season. This score gives your starters some extra minutes to work on some things. The 4th quarter is when you pull the starters.

Clemson is totally overwhelmed........and I love it!!

South Carolina recorded 9 assists and 21 rebounds......in the 1st Quarter! They lead 31-6 after one period of play.....

They lead 62-15 at the half. Te-Hina Paopao leads the way with 14 pts on 5-7 shooting, 4-4 from behind the arc. Raven Johnson is scoreless in 15 minutes, but has 12 assists(!!!) to just 1 turnover, and 5 rebounds. Cardoso has 12 pts on 5-8 shooting and 6 rebounds, and Fulwiley added 10 pts on 4-8 shooting with 7 boards and 3 assists. Overall the team has 19 assists and 40 rebounds in one half of play.....

Gamecocks win over Clemson 109-40 to improve to 3-0.

Another well-balanced game as six Gamecocks scored in double-digits. Freshman guard Milaysia Fulwiley led the way with 18 pts in 16 minutes on 7-13 shooting, 4-7 behind the 3-pt. line, to go with 9 rebounds and 3 assists. She also fouled out, which was why she played as few minutes as she did.

Kamilla Cardoso scored 15 pts in 23 minutes on 6-9 shooting, with 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks. Te-Hina Paopao opened the game white hot shooting 4-4, 3-3 from the arc. She finished with 14 pts in 19 minutes, shooting 5-8 from the field and 4-5 from the 3.

Ashlyn Watkins added 12 pts in 25 minutes on 6-10 shooting, with 10 boards and 4 blocks. Chloe Kitts also scored 12 pts in 10 minutes on 5-6 shooting. Sakima Walker rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 pts in 16 minutes on 4-4 shooting, with 6 boards.

Raven Johnson only scored 6 pts in 32 minutes on 3-8 shooting, but dished out a career high 17 assists to just 2 turnovers, to go with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Bree Hall and Sahnya Jah scored 8 pts each, and Sania Feagin added 6 pts and 6 rebounds.

Clemson shot 22% and got outrebounded 73 to 27. Last year's team Gamecock team would be proud of those numbers. Maryland and Notre Dame are very good offensive teams, Clemson is much closer to the mean on offense.

I know there is a mixed bag about our women's team. Dawn is a firecracker. This may be the most talented team Dawn has ever had. Dude. Watching this team is as much fun as anything else. Watching them is like watching the Harlerm Globetrotters, If yo aint watching, you're losing.

I have to be honest…Ive never been impressed with Kardoso. She doesn’t have that soft touch under the basket, she’s slow, and she gets points based on her size. Not being mean, but she’s very underwhelming.

Mixed bag? I think everyone’s in agreement that our team is fantastic. Do you mean that some people just don’t like a winning women’s program because they’re women?

Iowa just lost to K State at home. Now those 13 ppl who didn't vote us #1 have no excuse. lol

Clark was 9 of 32 from the field.
The refs was cheating real bad for Iowa too(nothing new). They called phantom fouls on K-State and waved off the last 8 seconds of the 3rd quarter when Iowa had a shot clock violation. It was so egregious it's embarrassing they couldn't pull off the win.

If she would use the backboard more and better, she would make more shots. Where is John Wooden when you need him?

Wow - Raven is quickly becoming my favorite!

Yep. Said early this week that no way this team would be THIS good if they had won the tournament last week. When I say "this good" I mean...#1 in the nation in assists per game, #1 in the nation in blocks per game, #1 in rebounds per game. I believe they are around 4th in field goal percentage. Small sample size, but they aren't padding stats against non-Power 5 teams like most teams this time of year.

Also, Joyce Edwards said that she was going to wait until April to decide, but she was blown away Sunday and she knew this was her team. Another benefit to starting the season ready to go.

Looking forward to going to Tobacco Road for a couple of games. We need to be challenged on the road. Face some adversity, etc because we're not going to blow out everyone.

(btw, didn't we play at Duke the last time? Do they owe us a couple of home games?)

Three 100(+) point offensive games with scorers spread over the roster right out of the gate is impressive - and not against an LSU type OOC schedule.
Can we get #4 vs. Clemtech?

Mission accomplished!

Other goals to shoot for:
Most Games With At Least 100 Points
15—Long Beach St., 1987
Consecutive Games With At Least 100 Points
6—Louisiana Tech, 1982

What do you want from her? She's 6'7". She is not going to be Fulwiley out there. She is doing what she is supposed to do. Be big, seal her man, keep the ball high and score. 16 pts., 12 rebs., 3 Blocks, and shooting 67% from the field in the first 3 games. She keeps that up and she will be an All-American at the end of the season.

The refs are scared that they will get thrown under the bus like the refs from last year's Championship game because they didn't "let" Caitlin win.

What are you guys talking about. Cardoso is shooting 67% from the field. That's elite for a big. You are not going to make every shot. These players are not some computer generated object that complies to your every wish. Also, women miss more shots around the basket as they are not as strong with the ball as men. Boston missed just as many shots around the basket as Cardoso.

I think that record is in trouble . With the tempo/pace we are playing at (thank you Raven and MF) and a roster of only 11 and with no real fall-off with the second string closing out games, I can definitely see the team eclipsing that mark by the end of the year
