I was talking to someone the other day about our WBB team. I loved Boston and always will. She was and is an amazing player and rep of USC. Is it possible to think that as good and dominant as she was, it could have worked against us based on planning? What I mean is that if she was off last year, who was stepping up on the O side? This year's team has O everywhere and I swear since watching Carolina in the E8 under Walvius, this is the best team I have ever seen here. We have shooters, athleticism, blockers, bigs, passers, speed, and probably more adjectives I can't think of.
Its early and I guess as a coach for now, you pack the inside and make us shoot? Thinking back when Tina Roy was our go to and what we have now, seems like a big gap.
We only lost one game last year and we didn’t lose while Boston was off the floor. Cardoso and Amihere did step up in her absence. We fell behind 10 points both in the 1st and 3rd quarters with the starting lineup in the game. So if you mean that Aliyah was so dominant that it made coach feel she could start any combination and it would be a good enough than maybe you're right.

Personally, I'm not ready to say this team is better than last year's yet. But no question Dawn is getting more out of the roster this year.

Last year’s and this year’s teams are just so different. It is almost impossible to compare. It amazes me how DS has adapted? Changed? Evaluated the on hand talent and implemented a different offense.

Tonight will be an interesting test. I think we win. But do we struggle? UNcarolina plays excellent D and is a hard nosed team. As you said earlier, the glass will determine the tenor of this game.

If they can’t compete on the boards it will be a 20-30 point victory for us. Our turnovers are way down and I don’t think they will be able to generate easy O at all. I expect Kelly to be slap A$$ wore out by the 40 minutes of D Raven, Paopao and Fulwiley apply. Ustby is 40 minutes of intensity and hard work. IF Chloe and Swatkins(God I love typing that nickname) match her intensity score will be brutal.

I think we both missed on Miss St. I WAS ignorant of how injured they were in the post. Stupid me

Cocks✔️ vs UNcarolina We have exceeded my expectations every game this season, which makes me wonder what truly is the ceiling for this team

A&M✔️ vs Wake one of the only stinkers in this challenge

Tillman Tech✔️ vs Auburn our slaughter of them is deceiving, they are an NIT team.

UK vs BC✔️ I know Nothing about BC. BUT can
any P5 team be worse than UK?

LSU✔️ vs Va. Tech my heart says Va. Tech but my head says LSU. Other than Kitley LSU has the size advantage at every position. I think LSU’s can hold up better

FSU✔️ vs Ark really want to see what Tayliah Scott can do for Ark. Think FSU’s inside game is the edge

Duke vs UGA✔️ I think Duke is the better team but that the unique D UGA plays gets them the W in the nights ugliest game

Mizzou vs UVA✔️ Mizzou is a deceptively bad 5-2 team. UVA is their toughest OOC game. Pingeton scheduled to save her job

BAMA✔️vs Syracuse pretty evenly matched teams. Fair and Barker are the two best players on the floor. Think BAMA just has a bit more

Unfortunately, I think LSU wins tonight as well. I'll take Duke over UGA to be different. I expect a close one either way.

Agreed. Listened to an UNCarolina basketball podcast yesterday and the consensus was Ustby struggles against bigger players. She plays the 4, but is not exceptionally tall. She's 0 of 5 from the 3 pt line this season, so she doesn't stretch the defense. She prefers to postup or drive, which works against smaller defenders. Maybe she can bully Chloe a bit since Chloe is still young, but that won't fly against Ashlyn. I will be surprised if she has a big game scoring tonight. The Heels will have to find scoring elsewhere.

Still way too early. This team appears to be more balanced, but it only takes a couple cold shooting nights to change that. It is pretty hard to be better than a team that went 36-1 and didn't lose until the Final Four. Just shows you how hard it is to run the table. Last Year's Team just lost at the wrong time. Not much different than the 21-22 team. That team lost the SEC Final, but nobody cared because we won the big one.

I believe the 2019-2020 team deserves to be in the conversation for best Carolina teams ever. They were on an absolute roll at the end of the season. It felt like Kiki couldn't miss.

In my mind we have 3 National Championships because of that 2019-20 team. They were the best team that year. It's not their fault that Covid happened. They were #1 when the year ended, so they needed to crown them by voting just like they did in the old days with football.

I cannot call it a championship if no playoffs were played. They were considered too be leaps and bounds better than the rest of NCAA WBB last season and we all know how that turned out.

Funny you should say that, her percentages for the last 20 games of the season, SEC + UConn

FG 49.7%
3pt 45.1%
FT 93.6%

Not technically in the 180 club
But still a total of 188.4! She was absolutely lethal. Probably the best 20 game overall shooting percentage in the history of the program

UT's last play was designed to go to Spear, who was open. Puckett's shot was completely uncontested because no one guarded her. lol

Shakey point guard play by the Vols not to execute the play as designed.
That was a very sloppy game all the way around by both sides. Hard to watch. I guess I have been spoiled by watching an elite team play so often....

Thanks for the link. After listening to the podcast the podcasters know they are going to creamed but can’t bring themselves to say it to their audience.

I didn’t realize all the problems they are having on O. We sound like we are constructed to be their kryptonite.

Nice call on Duke

That was my take on this discussion as well. But I think they got it right......"strap in and prepare for the inevitable!" Ha.....

I think the crowd sensed UNC should be up by more than 3. I would like to see Watkins start the 2nd half and play as much as possible. This just ain't Chloe's night. We need to be more physical. I hope 6 game into the season Dawn isn't wedded to a fixed rotation.

Bottom line, Chole needs to pickup some weight and get stronger! 👀

True. It will come. Let's not forget she graduated from high school last year. She got to hit that mid-range jump shot until she gets stronger. Ashlyn needs to stay out of foul trouble. I'm not sure what the deal is with Feagin.
Feagin…. You are who you can defend

I went back to watch her minutes and I didn't notice any egregious defensive lapses. She did have that bad play at the end of the quarter when she put up a wild shot with time on the clock. But she was still in there at the start of the 2nd, so I don't know.

All I can say is I feel sorry for Duke on Sunday. They are going to face a Dawn is Angry Team. I never saw Dawn mouth so many cuss words before ever. She was totally pissed at the referees and frustrated with the mistakes our team was making. She is going to work them hard .

They just have to get back to the basics on offense as making the extra pass seemed to evade us in this game. First road game with a young team, bound to happen. How about Pao Pao, yet another 50% 3 point performance, and still top 10 in the nation. Bree Hall's experience showed in this game. Making big plays on both sides of the floor, was a joy to see. Watkins/Kitts are a great duo to have, and Chloe was pretty clutch late in the game with that mid range we needed to extend the lead while icing both free throws at the end. Watkins as well with her two. Good win, hopefully Duke isn't as close, but they have talented players and took Stanford to OT at Stanford before falling.
