I bet Tenn board is in melt down mode!

Saw where Kentucky lost too but atleast Eniya has turned into one of their more productive players which makes me happy! What’s going on with Maddie Scherr … is she hurt?

Disappointing for 2 of our starters. Appears to be minor but ... Still waiting for someone to separate themselves as the leader. Seems to be by committee right now. I was hoping it would be Raven or Kamilla. Not sure Kamilla has the personality to do that but Raven does. She needs to mature a bit. I think she will

UT without Rickea is MAYBE a .500 team and not going to the dance. Anyone know her injury and it’s extent? I think Harper survives this year. She always seems to able to pull a rabbit out of her hat. BUT the program seems on the edge of collapse

She was wearing a boot, so it's some type of lower leg injury.

Hopefully the Vols can get it together because I don't want Harper to go anywhere.

This was posted a few days ago. No clues from this but looks encouraging that she might be close.

Next question….. We have had one serious injury in the last 6 seasons, Raven with an ACL. I can’t even count UConn’s probably 10.

Fragile vs durable athletes? Bad luck? Molly Binetti’s S&C vs their’s?

Lele's injury was significant. We only lost to Stanford by 1, Boston and Amihere were in foul trouble and Saxton was a no-show in that game. We could have used Lele on Jones for sure.

While I pull against Tennessee I do not want them to spin completely out of control as I would love for Harper to stay on as coach as long as possible. that program, in the right coach's hand, could become a thorn again for SC.

Also - your thoughts on the recent disappearing act by Jewel Spear - she of the 16 pts per game avg. in the ACC. I know that you were aggravated when she decided to transfer late in the process from Wake to UT. So far, and thankfully, Paopao is looking like the better get as a 2g/point for our team.

Slump, scheme, or just better off being 'Robin' to RJ's "Batman' - Perhaps she is wishing she was back at Wake?

I think she’s somewhat close to being back. They showed her shooting the other day without the boot.

I am very surprised at the lack of production by Spear. She was so dominant at times for Wake. Maybe she needs the ball in her hands more🤷‍♂️

OR maybe Harper has what Pat Conroy described as the SADIM Touch in Prince of Tides. SADIM IS MIDAS spelled backwards and everything the dad touched didn’t turn to gold it turned to💩

If UNC plays like they did against us they should win easily imo
Geno went small last night, starting two freshman, Shade and Arnold, along with Bueckers, Edwards and Muhl. Trying to matchup against Texas didn't work, so he was like "screw it," I guess.

I don't know...Utsby pushed Chloe around. Not sure who will guard her in that UCONN lineup. I favor UNC, but UCONN still has a lot of talent on the roster.

Well, it's complicated. We may actually have more rebounds this season. We lead the nation in rebounds at 53 per game ( against the 2nd toughest schedule so far, btw). Last year we averaged 49. But we are playing at a much faster pace, so there are more rebound opportunities.

Outside of the UNC game, I've been pleased with the rebounding. I agree, though, we won't be as dominate on the boards as last year.
Could it be that because we are more efficient on our out side shots, their are less rebounds available on the offensive side.

Since the only penence was missing the first four minutes of this game, I do not believe this was a big thing nor intentional. I don't think it is indicative of whether Raven could be a good leader or not, or that she is immature. These suspensions in the past may have been a player being late to a practice or shootaround which occurred by misjudging traffic or something of that nature. Raven and Cardoso are always together, so this may have been just that. Lets not turn this into something that it is not and start speculating about the commitment level of our players. If you are really close to them, they can share stories in which most of them have had some type of discipline in their time here. This goes back to Aja's time here

@DarkCock knows his analytics and rebounding has so many measureables that there are myriad of ways to interpret. Some of the more helpful ones don’t show up unless you use a service. Rebounding margin is a great indicator but also rebounding rate on both the offensive and defensive boards. We are rebounding 46.2% of our own missed shots which is almost identical to last season. We are rebounding 76.2% of our opponents missed shots.

DarkCock can correct me and let us know how those numbers rank

We rebounded 48.9% of missed shots last year. That lead the NCAA last year. We are currently 8th this year.

We are 38th this season in defensive rebounding. Last year we were finished 6th. So we're not rebounding as well. No surprise considering we played Boston and Cardoso together last year at times. However, we are doing other things better, like shooting the ball, so we don't necessarily have to rebound at the same level this season.

Thoughts on UNC VS UCONN Sunday? Anyone?

CT should win - CT has the better offense while UNC has the better defense. CT has played the tougher schedule thus far, by a good bit. They (CT) are normally a better perimeter shooting team but with Fudd and Ducharme out that impacts that strength substantially. UNC has the better post presence as a group: Edwards for CT is the better post player than any of the Tarheels individually, but because Edwards is more of a 4 than a 5, and she has very little depth support and has also shown to be foul-prone this season, UNC while not having extremely great post depth in terms of bigs they still have more numbers that can battle Edwards and sort of swamp her, with both Ustby and Gakdeng controlling the boards.

If CT has to rely on just 2 players - in Bueckers and Edwards - to carry the offensive load, that could pose a problem for them. UNC gave us more than we wanted, by jumping out on us in the opening period before we were ready to deal with that. CT is a system offense under Auriemma that loves to jump out on their opponents by script to open games, and then keep jumping.

If UNC can match CT's opening intensity with their own, the rest of the game could be quite interesting. But UNC played in front of a sellout home crowd against us that inspired them to keep fighting: they won't have that this time at CT, so they'll need to find that passion from within themselves for an entire game in front of a unfriendly crowd. The Tarheels haven't played this season yet on an away floor: they have played 3 neutral-site games, and are 1-2 in those, against opponents that are not as good as CT should be. Unless UNC finds fire inside themselves, and CT struggles to find support for Bueckers and Edwards, the Huskies should pull this one out....

When was the last time we shot 68%? 😯
I couldn't find the answer exactly, but I did learn the 68% was the 2nd best shooting performance in program history. Also...

* Shot 71% in the 2nd half

* Shot 56% from 3

* Had an effective field goal percentage of 76%!

That's lights out shooting, I don't care who the opponent is. We could have scored in the 120's, if not for 16 turnovers (and Watkins' missed dunks). We were hitting just about every shot we put up.

Perhaps the strangest stat from the game is we were +54 in Sakima Walker's 15 minutes of play. She had 1 rebound and 1 block. She didn't take a shot. Why the team played so absurdly well with her on the court is hard to determine, but she must have done something right.

For the 3rd straight game, a team played man-to-man defense against us, mostly. Only in the 4th, when Cardoso and Paopao were on the bench, did Morgan St go to zone. It will be interesting to see how Utah defends us this weekend.

Duke only shot 3 free throws for the game. Wonder if Kara is going to call out the officials again in her post game presser??
lol. I thought about that last night when Morgan State shot 13 free throws. They drove into the lane and got shots block or simply missed, but sometimes they got the foul call.

I didn't watch Clemson/Duke, but I see Clemson had zero blocks. I suspect Duke settled for perimeter shots again. But blame the officials. 🙄

Apparently it was a month ago.

Sounds similar to the injury that UConn's Ice Brady suffered in the pre-season of 2022. She was out all of last year but is back playing for the Huskies as a back-up this season. As others have mentioned, would love for her to enroll early and rehab on campus.
