Deberry is that kid. Everyone’s best friend, perfect teammate, very smart young woman. She was always a project but 6’6” and a hometown kid for UConn.

She got to college and realized there was a lot more to life than ball. I don’t mean partying but school, intellectual pursuits, culture. Everything you want your child to discover. Wonderful human who drives Geno nuts
Your opinion.

He is a guy of smarts, integrity and loyalty. I know he is coaching at his Dream school and Alma Mater….. But it just ain’t viable.

Beers is from Colorado, btw. Not Utah. Utah could still be a possible destination. I'm not familiar with her recruitment out of high school.

Yep I had a feeling she would. She is another Rivers type that I think wants the spotlight.

Laila Phelia just jumped in as well. I liked her play this summer in the fIBA championship.

Both have do not contact

No...I think the fans like this thread. It's a work in progress that hopefully will be on here for many years to come. Fans can go back and see what was said and posted about the freshies. Can't wait to see how this board grows over next year as we will be pre-season #1.

Thanks anyway!!! TN
Good call. This is the next best thing to a women's sport having their own category

I called this one during the season. Thought she was a possibility for us if we didn't land Joyce.

with a do not contact, thinking possibly Mississippi or LSU as Angel's replacement . She might thrive under coach Yo's direction, but I thought the same playing for Joni at A&M. If she goes to LSU that could/would be wild considering her emotional temperament

She signed with Adidas last month (NIL)
Oh yeah. I didn't mean she was a possibility now. Her talent is obvious, but she's a gamble based on her demeanor. She's overly emotional and makes poor decisions, needs to stay faraway from LSU, so she'll probably go there. lol

There aren't that many Adidas schools, besides A&M. I don't know how that contract will affect her choice of schools.

Well I bet Walz is salivating at the opportunity to get her if she is tied to Adidas.

I'm going guess UCLA. I said the same for Amoore and I was wrong. We'll see. Close is a bit overly emotional herself, though.

But HVL is signed with Adidas as well and played for a Nike team this year.

Excellent analysis, as always. But even Clark said something like "It's South Carolina - there's only so much you can do." I don't think they were big enough underneath to win this game without lights-out shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. Stuekle probably did all she could do, but really needed another couple of inches of height and an extra 30lbs of weight. That, or a 2nd effective big body to spell her.
Rewatched the game and Stuekle was pulled in the 4th when she gave up a putback to Cardoso. Yes, you're right she's too small to be a 5, much less one who can guard Cardoso. I'm just saying if she was going to be on the court, she needed to foul. That's basically all her backup did. 😅

I could fully see Deja Kelly and Janiah Barker going to LSU. It might make even more of a train wreck than last year was.

I was not speaking of Beers being from Utah....I was speaking of Gardiner being from Salt Lake City and Utah having success.🥱

I knew that is what you were referencing. 😎. Somehow the responder got mixed up when another poster asked about Beers. Maybe he/she confused the postings.

To our "experts" (they know who they are ;) ): are we looking to take anyone from the portal? If so, in what area of need? How many do you project us to have on the roster in '24-'25?

Jah's gone, Kamilla to the W, and Walker unknown at the moment.
Gain Joyce and Maddie.
I'd say you need a big.

Considering we are 2 deep at every position but center, and we're losing our starting center, that seems logical. Sakima needs to develop, but not sure I would depend on that to happen. Adhel is a midyear enrollee with an injury so is a complete unknown. Joyce is too short for extended mind there. Can Watkins and Feagin man the post? I wouldn't be surprised if we bring in a defensive minded post player.

King, I would be surprised if Dawn goes to 14, likely 13. If Walker leaves, she may look for another backup post, guards are too deep to recruit to and she has the 3-4’s she needs, Kitts can play the three with Hall if needed and at 6’ Tessa can slide in there also. Lay can as well tbh. SC does not “need” anyone, even if Walker leaves. But I would not be surprised if Dawn seeks a 5 for depth. Feagin and Watkins can man that spot next year just fine if need be.

Yes, Dawn is always open to talent.

That said the Roster is at 12 with 11 who can really play. The only thing this roster needs is a 6’6” or 6’7” athletic post who is a terror down low on offense and an intimidating presence on D. She must have only one year of eligibility left and be a perfect fit with our players and “The Standard”. Unfortunately Cardoso is the only one that fits that description

Honestly there are some out there, but are they better than what we have? Do they fit? Will their coming cause someone else to leave?

From what DS says I think Tac will be ready next year. She is very fundamentally sound, Give her a spring and summer with Binetti and 20 games.

Did anyone else see Jason Whitlock on his tired podcast go on an over 60 minute rant about Dawn Staley. Just defaming the woman. Lying about how she just found God this year. I guess he did not bother to research that Staley said it was a divinely ordered for us to win on this day after we beat Connecticut in 2022. Still not giving the lady credit as a coach. Instead doubling down by talking about how much of an embarrassment it was for Iowa to beat us last year. I guess he had to change it up after going on all year about how Iowa was going to beat us. So, now we just have too much talent. What a cornball.
