Well with the addition of Paopao we have to be in consideration for one of the best backcourts in the nation. That combo of her and Raven involves two great passers that take care of the ball and one of the best 3pt shooters in the nation last season.

With addition of players like Tessa Johnson and Milaysia Fuliwiley we might have a team in which the guards have the potential to be just as good if not better than posts for once.

The more I watched Paopao games on Youtube, the more I was convinced she was the player we needed. Over the last nine games of the season, she shot 59% from 3. FIFTY NINE PERCENT!

Of course, I don't expect her to shoot that well over the course of the season. Just to have a consistent shooter over 40% is huge, though. Even with Brea's improvement last year, teams still sagged off of her. They won't do that against Paopao. Opposing teams can't risk that she'll go off. She has the potential to take over a game when she gets hot.

Her addition also solidifies the backup point guard spot. I suspect she's start at the 2 with Raven at the 1. Dawn will work the rotation so that Paopao will play point when Raven's not in there.

And it turns out the player that the Oregon coach was talking about was indeed Paopao. Her brother confirms it here.

Considering she didn't visit another school, definitely appears it was a done deal. Love it! I was critical of Dawn, at times, last season, but that doesn't mean I don't think she's a great coach. She's a winner. Period. She wastes no time feeling sorry for herself (unlike some in our fanbase). She's goes out and gets the player she needs.

Add Walker or Morrow and I feel confident this is a Final Four team. Even if we don't get either, I would like to see coach add another big. She doesn't have to be a gamechanger, just someone who can rebound and play a little defense in case our bigs get in foul trouble.

Adding Morrow would be icing on the cake, at this point. It would be great to have her, for no other reason than to keep her away from LSU. But if she doesn't choose to play her, having an open spot in the starting lineup for Breezy/Cooper/Kitts/T Johnson/Fulwiley to compete for isn't the worst outcome. More playing time for them will pay dividends down the road. And, who knows, one may emerge as a big time player next season.

I have a feeling Aneesah has not visited us yet and maybe not the other USC either. I feel like reports would come out of her being spotted. It has been reported that she will be in LSU this weekend.

She plays it close to the vest on social media as I have not seen any new follows or followers from these 3 teams. Raven and Coop are her only followers from our team. Raven did comment 👀👀👀 on her top 3 post.

PS I really need another hobby 🤪
There's only one USC - us! :giggle:

Along with the defense and rebounding aspects, I'd be happy if she can make "bunnies" reliably and shoot 70% or better from the free throw line.

Cliney gets a WNBA training camp contract.
That would make 13 Gamecocks with opportunities to make a roster this season.

We are now only barely trailing UConn for the most alumni currently on a WNBA roster, which is incredibly impressive when you think about what a relatively short time span we've been an elite program.

Not surprised about Deberry. I have read some on her, she is a quite bright and free spirited young woman. She appears to really enjoy the college academic experience and just loves being at UConn. I think she was over rated as a prospect and is not singularly focused on BB as her ultimate life goal

Wolfenbarger is a mystery. Her minutes and all important stats took a big dive last year. She did not miss any games due to injury but her game clearly regressed. She is from Arkansas so maybe she wants to stay

Haley Frank taking a 5th year and staying at Mizzou surprised me. WF guard Jewel Spear not entering portal was a surprise
Well...

YES!!! Would rather have her than Morrow! I do realize I am a minority of one in that feeling. She fits a more defined role. Morrow is a 4 looking to be a 3. I think she mucks up the inside game and rotation.
I think Spear is Van Lith like talent without the hype or drama

I always loved Cliney. She was a quintessential DS recruit. She was probably one of the best athletes in the national recruiting class. If I disremember correctly she was HS state champ in 100 and 200 meters and long jump. Just an incredible athlete who’s basketball skills were lagging. Looks like her game has caught up to her athleticism.

This is from an interview with ESPN “Morrow wants to win games, while also improving her ball-handling, 3pt shooting, & defense. Morrow already visited Southern Cal. She will head to LSU this weekend, and South Carolina weekend after. Some things she's looking for: -program/school interested in the whole Aneesah, can help her pursue passions in business, entrepreneurship, style + fashion, provide on + off court resources -community, family environment”.

We get the last visit. I like our chances. Sounds like a perfect fit.

Say we get Spear … how do you see the lineup including Paopao?

DS LOVES to have a beast off the bench. A lineup of Johnson, PaoPao, Spear, Feagin/Watkins and Cardoso would be hell to defend.

I love Spear’s game but I doubt anybody on this site outside this thread and Chris Wellbaum have a clue who she is

My gut tells me it is between us and Notre Dame. The family is very Catholic
That could be decisive, but location could be also. She is tall and lean, but appears very polished as well. She can put the ball in the hole and could give us another shot at being the most dominant team in the country, a shot which, hopefully, would be realized this time.

On paper, they should be better than last year. But HVL is going to need to learn to be a true PG who knows when to pass and when to shoot rather than just when to shoot. Alexis Morris was really, really good at knowing when to let her teammates be stars and when to take over a game, but so far all I have seen out of HVL is the ability to take over a game. She'll need to gain the other skills quick if LSU is to live up to expectations this season.

Personally I think she's a downgrade to Morris. I know people are making a big deal out of this, but she doesn't really move the needle for me. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some headbutting on that team.

Key point you raise - LSU expectations will certainly be raised!

Well it’s already started with Mulkey at LSU. She got sideways at Baylor over facilities. In fact the reason she left was because of power struggle with the AD.

She is pushing hard for a new basketball facility. Her remarks are, well, pointed might be a generous description. Would enjoy your thoughts
