I disagree. He was a very effective runner and picked up a lot of first downs in 3rd and 4th down situations.
I’m not saying he wasn’t effective. I liked what he brought to the team and wish he was staying. I just felt like there were certain situations where having him and Allar both on the field at the same time was very predictable. Beau was fantastic at Wisconsin. He won the game for PSU.

It also may give Coach K incentive and time to come up with something no one has seen yet. He's kind of creative like that.
I would expect that to happen without 9 leaving given the 2 weeks prep time and knowing where to attack the SMU defense.

I would think Pribula has put out feelers and knows who would be interested in him.

Last week CJF mentioned how much more development Drew could do at PSU. Described it as 'scary'. Four days or so later and Beau is moving on.

Kind of a stacked QB class this year, Drew must be hearing that he would do better waiting another year before entering the draft?

Interesting that Franklin has now had 3 backup QBs leave the program who were all used as runners....Tommy Stevens, Will Levis and now Beau.

Disagree it's a stacked QB class. Drew would likely be the third QB to go (after Sanders and Ward). But I think the only thing that makes sense is that Drew is coming back.

I laughed at what you wrote. Beau was a good HS QB and serviceable at PSU. There's no way he's NFL caliber.
I never said he was NFL caliber. What I said was that he could be thinking about a career in the NFL. I am not an NFL scout, but I have seen a lot of players who I don't think have NFL talent, get drafted and make a lot of money in the NFL.

I think the timing was all about players transferring for the spring semester, which is inconsistent with the playoffs. I think the feeling for the normal bowl games all kinds of players will be opting out and/or portal before games.

I cannot see Drew coming back, which leaves a pretty thin room in 2025.

That may be but given players switch schools multiple times, and sports like basketball span fall and spring semesters and involve far more travel, the academics and lining up with semesters is a facad.

If Drew wasn’t coming back, why would Beau leave? Is there a younger QB lighting up practice?

i wonder if top qb prospect that we’re recruiting took notice. One more year of Allar and it’s an open competition.

I saw in a report he was the 4th qb in the draft. Not sure if that makes him 1st, 2nd or 3rd round.

Like Journey Brown, Aaron Harris, Adam Taliaferro, sadly you can add Beau to PSU’s “what if’s” list.
I, and presumably many others, couldn’t wait to see Beau as a full time starter here. The similarities to Trace and what he could do completely running the show with his true dual threat skills will always be a wonder for me.

Unlike the others, we might get.to see him play elsewhere.

you can gift anyone $50k per month, however YOU will be paying 34% gift tax on the amount over $17k per year, so the IRS will want about $190k from you. for the gift to qualify as a gift there cannot be any consideration/contract for service etc as that would be pay for service. The collectives are filing returns and sending 1099s to players if they pay them to play for a team. this pay of play $$$ is not tax free. If a collective did not file tax forms that is not an NCAA issue it is a criminal matter.

some on the board have probably encountered this when helping one of their kids get a house. you cannot just hand them a bucket of $$$$ without the IRS getting their cut.
I thought there was not any tax due on gifts over $17k but rather the amount over $17k just reduces your unified credit relative to estate taxes, so that any tax due is because of estate taxes . Seeing how the unified credit is currently $13.6 million my guess is not many on this board would be paying anything.

I wonder if a lot of these kids going into the portal were promised a bag contingent on playing time and if that playing time failed to materialize the money dropped...so they are off to look for a bigger bag? This all can't be about playing time.

You know. You need to declare your major for your junior year, and your current school doesn’t have that major or certain courses you want, so…Stuff like that.

you get the first $17k tax free and after that the tax starts. I have had to pay this twice when helping kids. I tried a loan format but the IRS said that the loan was fiction and just a gift so got taxed.

I’ve been told, in much less detail.

That is correct except the amount is $18k to as many different people as you want. Your wife can do it too which increases the amount to $36k. If you and your wife give to your kid and their spouse you can do $72k.

Have you seen some of the slop some of these NFL teams roll out as their backup QB? I think Beau has a shot with a good season two under his belt in college.
What’s McSorley doing these days? I don’t think Pribula is near as good and trace struggled

Maybe. Or maybe Trace deserved more is a chance? There’s some really underwhelming QBs in the NFL.
