Next thing you know someone is going to donate millions for the stadium upgrades and it'll really be a bad day.How disappointing.
Of coursePaterno’s 4 straight seasons of at least 10 victories from 1971 to 1974 is more impressive. Even the streak from 1980-1982 is more impressive.
To be honest, Pitt’s 3 straight seasons of going 11-1 from 1979 to 1981 is also more impressive.

Don’t forget Matt CampbellImagine what PSU could accomplish with a great coach like Matt Rhule, Brian Kelly, Lane Kiffin, Lincoln Riley, Luke Fickell etc.
if it was easy everybody would be doing itIt was more difficult when they played 10 game seasons
Is Tom Herman no longer the hot replacement?Don’t forget Matt Campbell
This is such obvious context that many here are missing. 10 wins in the years of 11 regular season games was a much bigger thing than doing it today with 12 or even 13 with conf title games.Didn’t start playing 12 game seasons until 2006, so harder to do prior to - still, nice feather in the cap given it’s difficult to do even with 12 game seasons.
No one is missing anything, including the attempts to diminish anything that this staff and this team accomplishes. This is such obvious context that many here are missing. 10 wins in the years of 11 regular season games was a much bigger thing than doing it today with 12 or even 13 with conf title games.

Really? Hiw many scholarship players did those teams have? 100? How many of the kids on those teams put themselves in the transfer portal if they didn’t like their playing time? How many wanted to leave early for the draft? How much NIL did the coaches back then have to accommodate for everyone from the star player to the 18 yr old pimply faced recruit who asked for more? I think the coaches today have a much more difficult job.Paterno’s 4 straight seasons of at least 10 victories from 1971 to 1974 is more impressive. Even the streak from 1980-1982 is more impressive.

ND is now.Yes, we were a terror to the service academies.
Come from behind road wins at USC, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Not an easy task.No doubt 10 wins is a very good accomplishment for any team.
I do think some fans and media types have underestimated the road victory over USC this year. That is a tough place to win for visitors. I think the USC road win was more significant than any other victory by Penn State.
Defeating big time, blue blood programs like USC means a lot. Hats off to Franklin for that accomplishment in 2024.
Lavelle Edwards did it twiceif it was easy everybody would be doing it
wasn't aware he was everybody- but that's impressiveLavelle Edwards did it twice

Maybe we should schedule army, navy, air force, Syracuse, Maryland, Rutgers, temple, west Virginia and Pitt. Let's also factor in the fact that Pennsylvania was producing about three times as much talent as today.Paterno’s 4 straight seasons of at least 10 victories from 1971 to 1974 is more impressive.
