I’m confused how religion and a companies hiring practices enter the discussion of men competing in womens sports

The last statement is a major part of the issue
“Few areas where she can be most effective”

As stated numerous times in this post, she is a two time and current NC WBB Coach. She was the current coach for the US Olympics Team and played for several gold medal teams.

Tell me what coach in Women’s Sports could be more qualified to speak on behalf to save Women’s Sports at all levels. She’s never backed down on other issues. This a topic she should speak about and she could make a difference by doing it

Religion and company hiring practices ensure that someone who chooses an "alternate" lifestyle or practices a "minority" religion but is peaceful in their lives will not be discriminated in public and in the workplace. Meaning that for this issue, I believe that eventually, we'll likely have athletic conferences, classifications, etc. for transsexuals.

Regarding DS, I believe she focuses her "public capital" on empowering women to excel, and to speak on numerous other issues at this time would lessen her overall effectiveness.

Choose your battle. I think she has chosen well, and is most effective at that.

You are the one being laughed at. When you claim to speak for the entire state of SC or the majority of the state as you amended your claim then you better come with some source. Try to keep up.
There are 5 million people in SC. Only 2.5 million people watched it in the world. Deduce this for me.

The state of SC does not care along with a majority of other states. Only the woke care about it, and even then a minority of them care.

Dawn will be yapping about the weather tomorrow. That’s all she does. Look at how she was trying to rally support in twitter when basically it was a nothingburger anyways. Petty.
Your Gamecock card has been revoked .

Not a Gamecock fan. A true Gamecock fan would be positive about all sports the school sponsors, whether not s/he personally follows them all.

You must not have a daughter who could be looking at competing against a man to understand my point

Take a minute and look up Kentucky’s swimmer Riley Gaines. Check out how enjoyable it was for the her and other women competitors compete against someone who had been a woman for 25min in comparison to actual women

All of the women she states were also super excited to have a chick with a stick sharing the locker room

She is only one student athlete that no one really knows. DS on the other hand is nationally known and she has used her platform to make statements before. So again, why isn’t a NC winning coach making a statement to keep womens sports for women?

Again, she may be cool with it or she's choosing her battles. You don't get to choose the issues in which she makes a statement.

My guess is she'll make a statement when she's ready.

Or a real reporter could ask the question and she will answer and we don't have to wonder any longer.

Didn't know epsys were part of the USC AD. It's a fact everyone here is in full support of ray tanner.
"Not a Gamecock fan"? If you can't even be critical of your team you're bound for little success. 0-21 was fun for @atl-cock .

Angry at Dawn when she speaks out on issues you dislike and angry at Dawn when she doesn’t speak out on issues you support. Your issues and problems are yours not Dawn’s
I think Dawn is a great coach and I like the way she manages her team. Enjoy watching a winning program. Women's sports is her area of expertise and she needs to defend it or not. Don't be intimidated by any potential backlash regarding your answer if you believe in your stance.

You really think she isn't speaking out because of potential backlash? If so, you don't know Dawn very well.

Pretending the issue doesn't exist will not make it go away.

I know her very well and have strongly supported her and her program throughout this thread. However, I don't understand her not taking a stance on this issue when it can have such an impact on her sport. She has not backed away from other issues, only this one.

Sorry, not addressing something that has not impacted your team in any way to this point does not mean she has backed away from the issue. Do you know for certain she hasn't addressed this behind closed doors?

Perhaps Yorkcock and Presonyte should let us know exactly what Dawn should care and tweet about. Equality? Transgender Issues? Inflation? Nuclear Proliferation? Stem Cell Research? Ecology? Basketball? Women's Sports? Or should she "just shut-up and dribble"?

Are y'all seriously this bored, that you're mad that someone hasn't made a comment on something that hasn't even occurred in the sport. Name a current Division I athlete that was born a male or is taking testosterone in women's college basketball. If you can't name one then this argument is pretty useless and baseless.

You might as well be mad at Beamer for not taking a stand against players using earpieces during the game. It's funny that those who seem the most obsessed with the topic often don't even watch the sport themselves.

It has not impacted her sport or team - yet. But she is a woman, and a vocal leader in women's sports, and women in other women's sports have been impacted significantly. She could speak on behalf of all women in all women's sports which may also benefit her sport/team in the future. Better to be proactive and not reactive. Addressing it behind closed doors provides no support to women looking to her for solidarity, encouragement and moral support on the issue.

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn when he finally obtained freedom in the USA was besieged by countless people wanting him to speak out for their issue. Exhausted he finally said, “If I endorse everything, I endorse nothing.”
Dawn gets to set her own agenda, it’s her name, it’s her influence and if you ask me, every issue she has raised, she has been in the side of the Angels.

We're talking about her lifelong passion, women's sports, not just any issue. If asked about communism and political repression, I'm sure Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn spoke freely and often.

I think it is a losing battle for some and changes the focus of discussion away from our team. It may alienate some recruits (who may be immature, e.g. just out of HS). I do agree that taking a stand against men on women’s teams should help women but I don’t think that it is an issue for our team or for any team we play. Pick your battles.

For the umpteenth time, her life, her influence, her decision. NOT YOURS. Honest question, If it is so important you...... what are you doing about it IRL instead of whining about why DS won’t do what you want?

I wanted to see just how big an issue this really is so I researched how many transgender individuals have competed in college sports. Since around 2010, it appears there have been about 32 transgender individuals competing at all levels from Div 1 to NAIA and lower. Many of those are women converting to men playing on men's teams. That number makes it an infinitesimally small percentage of overall student-athletes.

This sounds more like a gaslighting issue than anything.

Why isn't Beamer and Paris speaking up and addressing the issue 😅? Chicks playing men sports w/o sticks.

Where's the competitive advantage with chicks playing against men. Remember the Venus and Serena Williams challenge "we'll beat any men's tennis player" and then losing to a 200th ranked man. Women are currently losing their places/titles to men playing women's sports.

Regarding the stats above, "stats are like women in bikinis, they show a lot but not everything". It's what's behind the curtain that counts.
On Biden's first day he signed an executive order mandating any school receiving federal money must allow transgender males to play women's sports or lose that funding. The DOJ, Dept of Ed and other federal agencies are pushing this. It's happening locally as well with proposals from county school boards (i.e. Loudoun County Va,) and the Connecticut Athletic Asso. has also adopted Biden's mandate. The NCAA also supports transgender men in women's sports and has threatened states who have adopted laws protecting women's sports with the pulling of NCAA events from those states. Like many things folks have said "that will never happen", this is not going away. There is force behind this issue from federal, state and local governments and agencies, the ACLU, HRC, etc. and unless women (and men) step up and speak out it will happen. Personally, I do not want my granddaughter mowed over by a 220 lb boy on the soccer field or forced to to dress/shower in the same locker room with "chicks with sticks" pretending to be women.

So which side do you think DS would throw her considerable support behind?

Its amazing you still have to ask that question with what has been presented

I’m shocked that any dad or grandfather aren’t pissed more than the few that have presented the issue at hand

Well prestonyte has made sound that it is a foregone conclusion that DS would oppose all transgender athletes. Wait..... you don’t think this whole bitching by him is a disingenuous ploy? To try and out DS as a horrible person? Just to further his own agenda? I’m shocked!! Say it’s not so!

I don’t care what his agenda is. Again inet shock jock - is why a coach who has taken stands on several issues can’t take a stand for her sport, current / future players and her sex

She took a stand over a tv sports award. Big deal who cares about what a tv sports channel wants to hand out.

Again, where is the stand on a real issue of dudes taking state titles, ncaa titles or scholarship for a real woman
