How can anyone still support Fraud Franklin?

What changed?

In his career as an FBS offensive coordinator, Yurcich's offenses have averaged 6.49 yards per play, which ranks first among OC's since 2013 and 14.03 yards per completion, which is first among Power Five OC's in that timeframe. Since 2013, Yurcich's offenses have scored 50 or more points 26 times and 40 or more points 51 times (50 percent of games coached), both of which are tops among FBS offensive coordinators since 2013. His teams average 61.5 touchdowns per year.[6]

Curiouser and Curiouser:

Return 4 starting Jr or Sr offensive linemen
Buy 2 experienced wide receivers in the portal, to compliment your core returners
Supposedly have the "Best TE room" in the country
A backfield of uber-hyped supposedly "generational" 5-star caliber RBs and QB

For two months, can't make plays against the likes of UMass, Delaware, and Northwestern - let alone Ohio State.

Bro, I'll do your homework for you without Google. At least start with Kalen DeBoer. He was good at Fresno and been great at UW (especially ATS). He would be worth consideration, but I'd like to see him without Pennix first.
If we know, it’s too obvious. The next guy might be a F&M grad assistant

How could PSU fire Franklin privately?

Misplaced modifier aside, Barry would never advocate that. He knows better than any of us that PSU simply cannot afford to do that.
Barring some other program waiving a 6 year, $60 million contract in front of Franklin's agent, PSU's head coach will remain James Franklin.
Things will get better, get worse, or stay the same under his watch - at least in the near-term future. let's hope they get better.

Not better or worse. It will remain the same #9-2

The track record of West Coast coaches migrating East isn't great.

How can LSU, Auburn, Michigan State, Florida, Florida State, Texas etc. afford it and why are we so different?

To be clear, Paterno faced off against vs Buckeyes as an underdog in 12 games. In those contests, he only won once (‘05 home game). He never won as a road underdog.
This is the similar point I have been trying to make, but the good ole boy club will always deflect from this point. There sure were a lot of ostriches with their heads stuck in the sand from 2000-2011. The fact of the matter is, that PSU has been a middle of the road to low end top tier team since 1999. Franklin is recruiting at a level that we haven’t seen since the early 90’s but OSU/UM are his kryptonite. Iowa/UM/OSU were Paterno’s kryptonite. The Rick will even petition Tom from allowing comments regarding this. Good luck with that crowd.

Paterno's teams were 9-13 vs OSU (not counting one game that OSU won, but was required to forfeit - so, 9-14 if one includes that one)
4 of those wins were against OSU teams ranked in the top 10
3 others when they were ranked, but below #10

Of the 13 losses, 9 came to OSU teams ranked in the top 5.

Why anyone insists on trying to "defend" CJF (1-9 vs OSU) through comparisons to Paterno is beyond me. Just creating arguments that make CJF look worse.
Let it go.

He is a fraud and people here need to stop making excuses and admit he has peaked. He will never win a title let alone the big ten.

So past lack of success excuses current lack of success? Mkay.

Don’t be such a 2023 ostrich. 🙄

It’s very disingenuous of you to conveniently post stats about a coach who was past his prime (complete with two NatChamps) with those of someone, theoretically speaking, who should be in his prime.

You Fraudklin apologists are borderline insufferable.

Penn State won't find anyone who can do better.

Take a look at the top teams all times in wins (D-1A program with more wins than PSU).... and the records...

Michigan 10-16
Ohio State 14-24
Alabama 5-10
Texas 3-2
Notre Dame 9-9-1
Oklahoma 0-2

41- 63-1

PSU has never really been able to sustain sucess (or be even) against the programs that have won consistently... I would agree 1-9 against OSU is frusrtating, but CJF is no different than any other PSU coach against the top programs.

PSU fan base - NIL bad. We don’t want to invest in the program like the other top dogs.

Also PSU fan base - We expect national titles.
I don’t disagree with your premise overall here …. But ……. THIS particular game had nothing to do with NIL - he had the horses 🐎 to win this game

Absolutely not. If you don't have a single receiver on your roster who can consistently win one on one versus a defensive back, you're going to have no downfield passing game. Penn State doesn't have a single receiver on their roster who can consistently win one on one against a defensive back. Drew Allar is a redshirt sophomore. He's not CJ Stroud or Bryce Young who can make up for shortcoming in their receivers with good ball placement, a great arm, and the ability to read defenses. He's not even Sam Hartman or Stetson Bennett who have average arms but can have good accuracy and can read defenses.

Nope. Just find it interesting that some choose to ignore that time frame and act like Franklin is letting everyone down.
No argument on the comparative records, but consider the comparative age differences of the two. Paterno was far from in his prime during this period.

In fairness, Stetson Bennet and Tom Brady are the same age.

He sucks so bad!
He’s a used car salesman!

I’m done supporting him!!!!!!!!
Gus Johsnon says, "He doesn't happen to have a 2023 Maserati in stock? Does he ? "

Never need to hear Gus's broadcast again after that schtick.

that's uncalled for, and way beyond appropriate.

You don't care for him, or like him. That's great. We got the point by your 2nd post in this thread. Escalating your complaints to the level you did says more about you than it does about your question/argument.
Thank You Sir for keeping this site a place worth visiting.

I still support coach JF but I am also starting to believe that any competent coach can go 10-2 in this sh1tty conference. Besides UM and o$u the rest of the teams are total garbage. Hell, I think you could bring in an AI BOT and they could do just as well right now. So how to get over the hump?

Throw in some of the new members next season, and 4 losses become a real possibility going forward.
