Sunday (6/30) was the birthday of the late, great, Florence Ballard. She was a founding member of the Primettes, which after being signed by Motown changed their name to the Supremes. Reportedly, Ballard was the one that picked the Supremes from a list of name options Motown gave them. In the early days of the group, Ballard was considered the best singer, and sang lead on some of their songs, but they really didn't have a lead singer. That changed in 1963, and the rest is history.
