I honestly don’t know. Maybe not authorized to take a TO? Maybe he didn’t execute the play as designed? Unclear. Definitely a communication or execution issue of some kind.

After the score the D needed to come out and take control. Instead, they’ve given up 5 plays for 25 yards so far.

That's their game. They did it perfectly against USC. If you can't get off the field on 3rd down and/or stay onside, they'll eat you alive.
