So he didn't have to read defenses last year when he got into games? Oh wait, he didn't play last year. So who was that #15 kid from last year that people were clamoring to get into games? He threw 60 total passes in 2022. He threw 42 at OSU last week. He didnāt play last year.
Drew is trying to fly the airplane while it is still being built. Let him play last year and now he is at least used to the speed and reading defenses. Yeah he would have been scouted, but he would have an entire off season to work on things. Now he is trying read defenses, get up to game speed, and adjust to the changes the scouts are throwing at him. That happens every week. Rather difficult when you donāt have a Harrison who makes you look like a brilliant field general.
Good grief, I bet you are the guys when your wives say to not get them anything for their birthdays actually believe them. I think there is a big difference between reading the defense against OSUās NFL defense and UMass. What do you think? So he didn't have to read defenses last year when he got into games? Oh wait, he didn't play last year. So who was that #15 kid from last year that people were clamoring to get into games?
Most of them do. Iām watching UK-Tennessee right now and they both do.Gotta admit itā¦..our Offense is truly offensive!
Does any other team in the country look to the sideline on every play like PSU does?
IMHO, the faster our tempo, the better we play.

Total Yards:
Indiana - 220
Penn State - 161

IU: 349
PSU: 342
Agree. Getting out of a sleepwalk game like this with a win is a plus. I would expect next week to be sharper. Franklin always has extra motivation to cream MD and rub LocksleyāsSometimes all that. matters is the final score. You take it and move on.

nose in it. Itās clear they have a deep dislike for each other. If they contain the QB, PSU wins easily.
We are exactly where I expected us to be at this point- at 7-1.
My biggest concern coming in was starting a new QB, and that remains my main concern. No, the wideouts aren't great and the protection could be better (and if opposing defenses had any fear of our passing game it probably would be)- but they don't, and it is what it is.
The defense is very good and special teams have held their own.
Will Drew become the great QB that we all hoped for? I don't know, and at this point I don't think that anyone else does either. But I do think that it's time to take the training wheels off and find out. Maybe we have some turnovers as a result, maybe we lose a game. But it's time to find out.
Can we still beat Michigan- at home? Maybe- but not without taking some chances now.
I didn't see a win in Columbus this year. Hoped, but didn't expect it. Michigan at home was my pick for the more likely win.So absolutely confident PSU would lose to OSU (or, I guess, one of the other nobodies on our schedule to this point)?

They will, if the offense doesn't grow up quickly.Thought the opposite - even on the road. I think Michigan trucks us.
Agree. They missed his leadership yesterday and the ability to get him, Issac, and DDS on the field at the same time with some of the unconventional DL looks that Manny has been using with all three. With that said, DDS is a beast. The Indiana OL was struggling to contain him and Indiana seemed to be running away from him. I have to give the Indiana QB some credit also. He seemed to be able to read the defense pretty quickly and get the ball out.It would be nice to have Chop back. PSU missed his ability to get to the QB yesterday, plus the md game has to be special to him.
Great observations.A few observations from my view in the cheap seats yesterday. It may be time to call the Yurcich experience what it is..a disappointment. I had high hopes when they hired him because he was successful everywhere he had been, but something just doesnāt feel right in the playcalling. Itās very vanilla. Now, to be fair, that might be because the offensive players require him to call it that way. Allar is still missing the rare open WR. I say rare because in person, in real time, you realize they arenāt getting ANY separation. None. But when there is an open WR, he is inconsistent in the throw or doesnāt see them and checks down. Parker Washington is sorely missed. I sure wish he would have came back. As for Allar, he has to run the ball a few times on the read option to keep the defense honest. Defenses have no reason to bite on the fake if he hands off every time and they just crash to the RB. You saw the defense play it differently when Pribula came in. They had to slide a defender out to defend him running off the read option therefore taking a player out of the box. Also, the Indiana defense did not respect the pass whatsoever. They were lining up the LBs 2-3 yards off the ball in the gaps and the safeties were creeping down within 8 yards of the line of scrimmage to stop the run. Thereās a reason why the RBs arenāt breaking bigger runs, they are facing 8-9 guys in the box every play. Further, PSU can only run effectively off the left side of the line. There are very few decent run plays to the right. If I can see that from my seats in the endzone, so can the defense. The TEs are currently the strength of the offense, so use them. Donāt ghost them out of the game plan like it seemed at Ohio State. Franklin needs to hit the portal hard for WRs that can get separation next year. The fact that guys like Saunders and Evans arenāt seeing the field is concerning when KLS leaves. The OL seems like every other OL the last 10-15 years. Average. They have no mean streak. The defense had 2 mental lapses that lead to 14 points for Indiana. Out of character for them. Diazās defenses are ultra aggressive, so there is high risk for big plays also, especially so when the communication is lacking. I have to give credit to the Indiana QB, he recognized hot reads and utilized them very well. They played uninspired and sloppy but still got the win, so thereās that. Finally, the B1G officials are abysmal. Absolutely awful. I donāt know how you swallow your whistle on the obvious two block in the backs on the long TD for Indiana, and the call it on the punt return? If youāre not calling it one way, it has to be that way for both teams. Also, they let Indiana get a few cheap shots on Allar. The INT play he was wrapped up down low and got the ball away and another defender came in and hit him in the facemask. Another play a defender went low at his knees after he threw it away. Iām all for letting them hit the QB, but that is the rules they came up with, so call it. If that was Tom Brady there would have been 8 flags on the field. The call for roughing passer on King was questionable also. The QB ran and gave himself up very late. King was already in motion to hit him when the slide started. You canāt ask a defender to stop that quickly. Thatās just unreasonable. Then one of the PSU WRs gets hit well OOBā¦no call. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for letting me debrief.
Great observations.
Thank you. More importantly, I got to spend the day with my son, who is a freshman. I hadnāt seen him in a few weeks, so it was great to catch up. Despite the lackluster game, I had a great day.Great observations.
Been there done that father son weekend stuff. My son graduated 2 yrs ago. Great times!Thank you. More importantly, I got to spend the day with my son, who is a freshman. I hadnāt seen him in a few weeks, so it was great to catch up. Despite the lackluster game, I had a great day.
First time poster here but long-time lurker. First, I'd like to say that I didn't agree with Sarge about much, but he was right about Cheryl Ladd. I really miss the Shrink - he was one of my favorites. For the record, I would never meet 21 guns behind Damon's, but I do sometimes get nostalgic for a good Bushwood 8 paragraph rant. Lastly, I personally don't consider salt and pepper "seasonings", but I respect an individual's right to draw their own line there.Parker Washington is sorely missed.
Lots more of us old farts that drove 3 hours than studentsThe old farts sections look pretty sparse on TV.
It was a noon game after Friday night Halloween parties. Whaddya expect?Lots more of us old farts that drove 3 hours than students
You missed him on the other board go down in flames after OSU. He was cherry-picking statistics to pump up PSU and the outcome of that game blew up in his face. He hasnāt;t been heard from since. For the record, I would never meet 21 guns behind Damon's, but I do sometimes get nostalgic for a good Bushwood 8 paragraph rant.
