I'm shocked, there's not one mention of someone on this board!:)
What? I mentioned the entire board.

I will tell you who breaks down tape as good as I’ve ever seen, Dan Orlovsky. The two football guys I actually pay attention to on ESPN are Louis Riddick and Dan O. They might be clowns too, but they come across as knowledgeable which makes me question why they are on ESPN in the first place. I think Orlovsky could be a guy who could have gone the coaching route versus the media route.

My one requirement would be that the person be in sync with the type of QB you ultimately want in your system. If you want a dual QB, you can’t have your OC be a guy who wants a drop back QB. I think you need someone who is signed on to the style you envision at the QB position to be first and foremost.

Given what a lightning rod Chip is, he can’t be on any list.
Jeff Saturday it is!

I don't want the latest fad. I don't want some 1 dimensional play caller. I want someone who will figure out what works and shove it down the opponent's throat til they stop it. I want someone who doesn't try to force a square peg into a round hole. Whoever that person is, I want em.

This is Penn State. Who would be on the Executive Council and the Strategic Planning Committee of the McAndrew Offensive Board?
Well.....you could be in charge of coffee during meetings......so that's a start.

Intriguing possibility. Might be a long shot but seems to be innovative. I'm not sure Franklin wants an innovator based on previous OCs.
I think Franklin has put himself in a position where he needs to do something different on offense. The GoGo system makes liberal use of 2 RBs and 2 TEs. I think we already kind of fit. I would be disappointed if Franklin didn't at least kick the tires.

They aren't up super high. Franklin has a lot of short comings, but I think he is pretty open to bringing in coordinators that are innovative. Moorhead was. Manny to some extent with his blitzes. Yurcich was supposed to be.

My choice for next OC is whomever Coach Franklin selects. Why, my opinion does not matter.
Finally someone who gets it. But I must ask, are you lost? ;) This is the home of the BWICAC. Franklin is a coaching moron who is lucky to have the ability to dress himself each morning. Overpaid, under preforming, walking talking reason for every PSU defeat for the better part of a decade. We deserve better. In fact the CAC is hopeful that Rutgers will rise up and defeat the Lions, so they can dream of a 63 million dollar buyout.

I am thinking the same as you.....just backward....i feel the HC must determine what type of offense he wants to run and then get an OC and QB to lmplement and run that offense.

Jim Roth, Southern Columbia football. Bring in the Delaware Wing T.....check that. I'll favor anyone that the BWICAC doesn't approve of. The weeping and gnashing of teeth will be so much fun.

there does not appear to be an offensive scheme any longer for a QB that is pure pocket passer. If you are a QB in the modern CFB game, you have running as part of your game. for us does not matter - Drew or Beau = whoever is in the game must have running as part of their package. Allar was both runner and passer in HS, so we would expect that to continue if needed.

UNLV improved to 9-2 with a win over Air Force. Brennan Marion's offense gained 465 yards at 7.4 yards per play (that's very good). While his GoGo offense is run heavy, UNLV gained 351 yards through the air.

It's true in the NFL as well.

Seider removed himself from consideration when he called the qb sneak 2 times in a row, executed by a smaller than average qb (the second called after the first one failed)
+1. Those were some brutal calls. 🤦‍♂️

This is how bad hires are made, but I can easily see Franklin hiring and overpaying for another shiny new coach. It's what James does best.

It's easy to look like an offensive genius in the no-defense Mountain West Conference.

The 1 thing I do like is he has coached and produced at big time programs as well. If he had only coached in the mountain west then to me it would be a question mark. Obviously other big time programs like him as well since ND and Oklahoma are interested.
