I believe this is the last day of pool play. Today's games are:

1. Ukraine vs. Belgium
2. Slovakia vs. Romania
3. Georgia vs. Portugal
4. Czechia vs. Turkiye

Sorry, with the Phillies game, the PSU verbal that took forever to be announced, the NBA draft, the Mexico - Venezuela Copa America match, etc., I didn't get to post about the last day of group play. There were some excellent matches. Georgia over Portugal was a stunner.

this stuff happens in most corner kicks. It rarely gets called unless it seems to have a major impact on the play

I think the ref got this wrong. By the book, it's a foul and a card. But the Czech player had possession, and was hit from behind by an opponent, and his follow throw (which wasn't big) took his spikes into the other opponent's ankle (and that opponent was making a challenge). I wouldn't give a card on this, especially if this was the 2nd yellow for the same player in the 1st half

this is a mess

the correct call -- foul on the Czech player before he got possession and made the shot

The group stage did not disappoint. Austria and Romania topping their groups. Georgia advancing out of their group. UK with all of those expectations better figure it out or Southgate won't even get on the plane before he is fired.

tough one for Denmark. On VAR, they determined that #8, who received the centering ball, was offside by an inch or so.

another tough call for Denmark. The chip imbedded in the ball picked up the hand ball, and then the ref checked VAR and awarded the PK.

I hate the way FIFA has decided to interpret the IFAB Rules of the Game. The rules state the player taking the PK must have a continuous motion. FIFA has decided that a hesitation (which is really a stop of the motion) is continuous, so now most PKs exhibit some variation of this hesitation/stoppage.

England 0-0 Slovakia at 8’.

Slovakia just now missed a golden opportunity. England looks as if the entire team went to bed drunk at 3 am.
