@MrTailgate -- what were your impressions of him in spring training?

Only time I saw him was in the victory handshakes after a game. I saw 19 games down there - three Phillies games in Dunedin and all Clearwater games. Unless I was sleeping, I don’t believe he got an AB. I was hoping to at least see him deep in a game like I saw Bohm years back. Since he was in the victory formation, I assume he was close to getting an AB that day but he didn’t get in.

I kick myself since I didn’t leave until end of first week in May. I didn’t get over to a THRESHERS which was just laziness. They have the ultimate $ Day one day a week- $1 tickets, $1 beers, $1 dogs. The reports I have heard are all very good. Cliche but he reminds people of his dad who I thought was a really good player. I think his dad was bigger but that was age. Justin is more like a whippet, lean and fast. Bowa likes him a lot and if you hear that, it means the kid listens and likes to work. Just my read when hearing Bowa likes someone.

@Tom McAndrew, one last point. The one thing I always look at, is the age difference at the league someone plays in. Even at A, Crawford is 2 years younger than the average age. He has some decent AB’s so it’s not like it’s just a couple AB’s early. He’s managing well so I view this favorably.

Amazing statistic about the starting pitching considering how many 4+ run innings that the Phillies gave up early in the season, leading to countless non-competitive games...and although Nola is the one who has been highlighted with the "big inning" issue, it certainly wasn't just him. At that point someone would complain about the offense and I would think "yes, it would be better to score 5 runs than 2, but did you not notice that the other team scored 10 runs?" LOL

Starting to think Moniak might not be a bust
.337 BA 1.087 OPS. Not a huge sample size but his homers are absolutely smashed. 😮

Hope to goodness not.
He is a long relief guy. Need a fixture. I get that it is all over bullpen games be we don't win bullpen games.
How freaking bad are the veteran minor leaguers? Painter was progressing as of a month ago.

4 runs on 1 hit in the 8th thanks to horrible relief pitching by the Mets gives Phillies the game. We’ll take it.

Phillies offense stinks. If not for the pitching they would be right with the Mets.

Same lame story every season. Pitching overperforms and hitting underperforms.

Pathetic, esp. vs. the Nats.

Familiar tale for the Phillies. They score 19 yesterday, but lose the bookend games by one run and lose 2 of 3 vs an awful Nats team.

4-2 in Florida would take some of the sting away from going 1-2 against the Nats. Great win today. Get greedy boys!
