I was thinking she reminded me a little of Ta’niya Latson but I’m not good at these comparisons 😜

I can find the men’s basketball game on SEC+ but not the women’s game. Any advice? Thanks

Watching the men’s game and comparing to the woman’s defense - the men do a lot more double teaming than the women. Am
I seeing this correctly?

The women team doesn't double except as a "wrinkle." Watkins doubled Pili for the first time against Utah with a 1:30 left in the game. Pili walked.

But to double that little means we have good to outstanding defenders at all 5 positions. Obviously, in year 2, Paris doesn't have the same level of talent as Dawn. He's forced to double to counter mismatches probably more than he would like.

Gamecocks win 93-62 to improve to 11-0. Chloe Kitts led South Carolina with 21 pts on 10-12 shooting, with 6 rebounds. Bree Hall scored 18 pts on 7-9 shooting, 4-6 from the 3-pt. line. TeHina Paopao added 12 pts on 4-6 shooting - all from behind the arc - plus 6 assists and 4 boards. And Kamilla Cardoso chipped in 11 pts on 5-7 shooting, with 5 assists, 4 boards, and 2 blocks....

Reading on social media that Tennessee lost Destinee Wells for the season due to injury. Hate it. Don't want to see anyone injured.

From what I've seen of Bowling Green, they have guards who can shoot. They push the pace and shoot the first open 3 they get, even against a team like Iowa. I can't see them slowing the pace down just because we're the opponent. It's not their style. If you're Fred Chmiel, you hope your shooters can get hot on the home court.

On the other end of the court, they lack the height and athleticism necessary to be a good defensive team. Teams are shooting 48% from 2 against them. Chloe and Watkins should have favorable matchups on the offensive end. Great opportunity for them tonight.
Chloe absolutely rose to the occasion tonight. Wow. If you didn't see the game, be sure to catch the replay because she played great. 10 of 12 shooting for a career high 21 points. Now, to be honest, Bowling Green is small in the post, that's the reason I thought she had a chance to do well. So don't expect her to do this every game. It's just very nice, though, that when we do have the advantage at the 4 we have a player at that position willing to assert herself.

Also, Breezy continued her streak of outstanding play. When she hitting 3's, this team reaches another level.

2nd straight game where we easily should have scored 100 points, be we got sloppy in the 4th. Not a big deal, I guess. We won a national title with Russell, Wesolek and Thompson playing a lot of 4th quarter minutes. Just feel like the reserves are more talent this season and there should be no "garbage time."

Cardoso came up limping in the 4th. Bowling Green isolated her on their point guard and she still blocked the shot. lol

Looked like the trainer was working on her ankle. Announcer said thankfully not her knee, which is true. She walked back to the locker room with a mild limp. We don't play again until the 30th and don't really need her until the 4th. So plenty of time to rest.

What I love about Chloe's game is that she is becoming more confident in her mid range shot. This opens the door for Cardosa to go one on one down low.

Was definitely paying attention. She rejoined the team and walked off seemingly fine with the others after the handshake (& hugs for Fred) line. I even noticed she waved a few times to the crowd walking to the locker room. Hopefully, it was minor. As you mentioned, plenty of time to heal/rest up for SEC play.

I didn't realize she went through the line. That's definitely good news.

The article about the matchup mentioned playing at locations near each players’ family. I get it now.

In general I am not a fan of him but the one thing I give Geno is that he is loyal to his players who stick it out for 4 years. He usually schedules teams close to the seniors hometowns as a reward. This Canadian game was for Aaliyah Edwards homecoming.
UConn needs all the help they can get from the non conference. I respect that he's willing to pass up on a potential resume building win in favor of rewarding his player.

I watched some of the highlights. The announcers said the Canadian team was 10-0 and "confident". 🫢

Team Canada does well in international competition, but clearly their top players hoop at universities in the states.

I didn't watch the game, perhaps they were intimidated by the name. It looks like the had a much more respectable 2nd half

That, and Geno actually played his bench. Ironically, Edwards played limited minutes because the game was such a blowout. She still went for 26 and 10.

Dean Smith is the first coach I recall who would scheduled opponents near his player's hometown. Maybe some old timers remember a coach before him who did.

McGuire did that for several players by scheduling St. John's in NY.

Maddy appears to be a little hurt. She kept grabbing at her hamstrings and is now on the bench

She is definitely not 100% and McNamara has let the game get a little out of hand in the 2nd half.
On another note, during halftime a recruit named Vivian Uwichiniku committed to the other USC. That is their 6th member of the ‘24 signing class. That is a huge class!

I watched the championship game and that was a fantastic 73-72 win by ArchBishop Mitty. They have a sophomore Forward that is excellent. O loved the backcourt players for Long Island Lutheran but was not impressed by Koval. She missed a ton of bunnies.

McKenna Woliczko? She unofficially visited South Carolina a few months ago. Sure would love to get her!

Are “we” giving Fulwiley and others enough NIL to keep them on the team?

The young woman is going to have so many options. She is considered by some to be a better softball player than basketball player. Excellent fielding SS with a cannon who hit .429 and led the team in HRs and RBIs.

Both parents are in Pacific University’s athletic hall of fame. Dad, Aaron, for basketball and mom, Erica, as a softball catcher. As I understand DS has said she would be fine with her playing softball in the spring but pointed out that the seasons overlap.

If she is looking past college, she should concentrate on the sport that provides the most money. Or concentrate on getting a good degree!
