She was not ready to go because Nebraska was still on the floor celebrating and when they were going to their locker room, the SID quickly directed them to the podium. The SID is now eating crow over this also.

I'm not going to get into what our coach has done and said that was offensive for some of the folks here. But I will say this and I've stated this earlier, "I will never EVER talk badly about someone who looks like me" just like our coach won't say anything negative about anyone who looks like her".

Remember, let's don't run over the referees just because they called the worst game ever in basketball history (who happen to look like Dawn).

Protocol is visiting team speaks first. They played music when Iowa shot free throws. I've never heard of that before. I don't think she was being petulant over a blown game. What about our own coach and her irascible nature?
Has she ever dragged her feet facing the music after a loss?

Protocol is the losers get their @$$e$ to the podium in a timely way following the game. The Iowa players and coach were delayed coming to the news conference, even though Nebraska had spent extra time on the court following the game due to the post-game celebration.

Iowa was possibly late because they stayed holed up in the locker room after the game, probably while having a Come to Jesus meeting. Nebraska was under no obligation to wait on them indefinitely.
Even at that, the Nebraska SID was prepared to pull the Nebraska players and coach and open the podium to Iowa should they show up, but the coach blew up and left, not to return.

In my estimation, it's just as likely she arranged this contretemps because she didn't want to be asked about her management of the fourth quarter of a game they actually blew.

Timely way, how much time? Possibly Late? Come to Jesus Meeting? Your estimation! You're trying to make an argument based on your condescension.

As far as our coach dragging her feet. I'm still waiting to hear what her research turned up on the BYU-Duke incident that made our university look bad in the National Media due to coach cancelling a home and home with BYU.

Watched the full Iowa vs Nebraska game on Youtube. To be very clear, THERE WAS NO MUSIC PLAYED DURING ANY OF IOWA’S FREE THROWS. Bluder is just lying, trying any excuse to mask their poor play.

Also Clark took just one shot in the first five minutes of the 4th quarter. Speculation was made by the announcers to earlier remarks that Bluder made. She said the IOWA crowd deserved to see the record broken. That if the game was in control they would either sit her or set up other players to shoot.

either a lame excuse for losing or a coach making a decision to purposely sacrifice a game fo one player

Poor coaching by Bluder, but you can see the impact of having Clark on her team in her coaching decisions.
The team has taken a back seat.
Winning the game is always the primary goal and letting accolades/records get in the way is a losing formula.

Looking ahead to SEC Tournament seeding. We are a lock for #1 and LSU is a lock for #2.

The coveted #3 &#4 seeds which come with a double bye will be between UT, OM, and MISS ST. 10 wins appears to be the magic number. OM & UT appear to have easiest path to achieve this. But the winner of OM vs MISS ST has a big leg up.

The one day bye is a muddle; BAMA, A&M, Vandy, and Arkansas all seem reasonable picks for this. Auburn and UF could make it also but they have more work to do than the others. I think one them makes it and the other Is lumped in with UGA, Mizzou and UK in the dreaded Wednesday opener.

preceding Thursday's 7pm South Carolina vs. Tennessee game on ESPN, will be the season's first NCAA Women's Tournament top 16 reveal on ESPN2 at 6:30 p.m. No secret who the #1 seed will be, but am curious as to the other initial top seeds from the selection committee. Never too early to start considering possible match-ups in the later rounds

Yes, we all know Iowa will be overall #1 seed. That is how it has been all season, at least how ESPN has wanted it somewhat. Or is it University of Caitlin Clark?

I kid of course but do believe they will be one of the 4 No 1 seeds for sure. I have watched a few of their games and really dont think they would beat us this year. If we played them, Raven would take it as her personal mission to shut down Clark in any legal way possible. I think our depth would run over them for sure unless it is like last year where they got all the whistles and we had to sit alot of our players for much of first half.

The teams that most concern me out there would be USC due to being very athletic. UCLA has size and athletes to match us but not sure about depth. Also maybe Ohio St. they have great shooters and Mcmahan (sp?) is a force. The most fun for me to watch would be us against Va Tech. Cardosa against Kitley ; Amoore against Paopao. Might be fun but again, our depth rules.

Anyone else find it bizarre that GameDay decided to come to the Georgia game. A team below .500 sounds like a surefire way to have low ratings.
It is but I believe they only have so many opportunities to put on that show during the women’s season and this Sunday was one of those pre-marked days.

Looking at Sunday’s games, the two best games on the schedule appear to be (12) Va Tech vs. Louisville (18) & (11) Oregon St. vs. So. Cal (10). I’m guessing ABC/ESPN decided the draw of an entertaining #1 team, with the current top coach, & playing in front of a sold out rabid CLA was the game and program to highlight. I sure as heck ain’t complaining.

I believe Fox has the rights to PAC-12 wbb. Not 100% on that, though.

Plus, as we well know, to the chagrin of many Gamecocks' fans, the program actually talks about many teams. I even heard they might have discussed someone named Caitlyn Clark. Angel Reese, too. Even teams from the left coast. ESPN also wants a good crowd to generate energy for its program. Well, we have a sell-out, right? So, it is very easy for the matchup at hand to take a backseat to their storylines.

PAC-12 Network has the PAC-12, which is why they are dissolving. Had FOX or ESPN or Peacock anted up they wouldn’t be breaking up.

Anyone else going to be in Knoxville Thursday Nite? I know there will be lots of Gamecocks fans there as there always is. Not sure if this one will be a sellout since it's work night. Not much a drive for the TriCities folks, area metro Knoxville, Western NC or even Chattanooga but it would be a hard trip for those in Nashville and Memphis.

I'm guessing there will be 15K in the 24 thousand seat Thompson-Boiling Arena, which will be a great turn-out....

Streaks in play, that I know about.

4 game winning streak vs Geno. Only team to do this is ND under Muffet McGraw.

54 or 55 home game winning streak. NCSU last team to win in the CLA. 12/3/20

41 game SEC winning streak. Freaking Mizzou at COMO.
71-3 .959% over the last 5 seasons.
155-15 .912% over the last 11 years in SEC

37 home SEC streak. #1 Miss St Feb 2019

15 game streak vs UGA. Last loss 1/13/13

view from the other side / thoughts on the SC/Vols matchup .

my fave comment from the article : “The Gamecocks are in full-dynasty mode now. They have won 94 of their last 97 games over the course of two-plus seasons. Tennessee lost that many games this past November”

Just a brutal article. Maybe Harper sticks around for next season, but I don’t see how. I don’t even know what a realistic short list would look like for that job. Kara Lawson, because they are fixated on UT legacies. Jeff Walz @ Louisville

If I were Sarah Strong, I wouldn't believe any coach promising me that I could play the 3. I doubt coaches with the stature of Geno, Mulkey and Dawn even make promises.

The only way she can be assured of not playing the 4 is to play with Joyce Edwards for 4 years. Problem solved.

I remember when Lele said she wanted to move to guard. Dawn was totally receptive. After saying yes she then laid out the path that Lele needed to take for achieving that. I can easily imagine that same conversation has taken place with Sarah.

The only people making the University look bad is people like you. If the game was that important to BYU maybe they should have signed a contract. People cancel games all the time, please get a life. We've cancelled a game with UConn, Stanford and UNC have cancelled games with us and life have moved on fine. It's been like 18 months please let it go.
