Who will be next year's media darling? Can't get here soon enough! I say that will all respect for Clark's game. She is amazing. Just tired of seeing her ad nauseum. Now, when she plays with AB, that will be interesting to watch.
I'm not thinking she'll be one who wants to give up the ball.

The Leo game is different. She will share the ball as her offense will not come as easily. She will be a marked player and everyone who guards her will make it a point to shut her down. These are professionals and she will have her moments but she will not get away with things she gets called favorably at the colleg level.!

The ball hog trait is not recessive.

I think it was a reward for how Feagin played Sunday 16 pts 6 Rebs 4 assists
Agreed. After Gamecock wbb twitter dropped the advanced stats the other day, I wondered if the coaching staff noticed that Feagin is our 2nd rated offensive player and 2nd in win share per 40 minutes in SEC play. With Cardoso out, her minutes per game are up to 13 minutes game, so her stats cannot be ignored. I never thought Dawn would change up the starting lineup, though. She's usually "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" type, to a fault at times. Last year it wasn't broke, until it broke in the Final Four.

Chloe looked great off the bench, btw. I'm impressed Dawn tried something different, even if it's just one game.

Are we sure Ashlyn Watkins isn't the best player on the team? I'm starting to wonder.
me, too. I asked the same question when KC was playing for Brazil. Ashlyn has really good touch near the basket and elevates so her shot (almost) cannot be blocked. P.S. She can rebound and defend just about any player on the floor.

Given that Paopao is nearly 10 percentage points better from 3-point range that Caitlyn Clark, I wonder where Paopao would rank among scorers if she had thrown up 395 3-pointers this year instead of just 131. Of the top 50 in 3-point shooting percentage (Clark is #43), only 6 have thrown up more than 200 three-pointers entering tonight. The girl from Alabama has shot the 2nd most at 226. Caitlin Clark has shot 395!

Ashlyn is a player. Versatile. Pitiful Thursday night crowd out there tonight. Well, maybe a lot of them left early.
I understand Arkansas fans' frustration with Mike Neighbors. His 6-4 center shot 12 3's and grabbed 1 rebound. They were out rebounded by 31. It's the same story every year. Their ceiling appears to be middle of the pack in the conference. Nice guy, though.

A'ja and the Aces are playing an exhibition game against Puerto Rico at the Colonial Life arena on May 11th. Pretty cool.

She leads the nation in assists per game, she will likely lead the WNBA in that category as well.
It's highly unlikely she will lead that category in the WNBA. There's some pretty good point guards already in the league and she will like have a steep learning to deal with as well.

Looks like we'll face either A&M or State in the SEC tournament, unless Florida beats Auburn on the road.

Our Bigs last night
23-31 74%
Dominated the glass, held the 5th leading rebounder in the country to 1 rebound.

Granted it was Arkansas but this group has become a monster. They all have inside moves, run the floor, pass well within the O and are committed to D.

One of the things I saw last night is that even though they were a little slow on rotations to the outside occasionally. They understood where they needed to rotate to. Slow sometimes, but hey it’s a 4-5 out offense.

@DarkCock Watkins is 🤏🏾this close to being a NPOY. She can defend most 5’s (I still wonder about the bulky 6’5”s and up) AND defend anyone on the perimeter. When she proves she can hit the 12-15 footer who can stop her?

Kitts hits the midrange, runs the floor, rebounds with intensity and not only passes well but understands where the ball needs to go. I forget she is really just a freshman. Another intense offseason in the weight room will make her drives to the cup even more impressive. IF she improves her footwork on D she can even play the 3 in a pinch

Cardoso, We are just spoiled by her. Her mere presence shuts down most teams inside game and opens up 3 point shooters on O. You have to double, she runs the floor.

Feagin, the light is coming out. She has the best and most low post moves on the team. Now that she has committed/figuring out D well who knows what the ceiling can be

By the way
Breezy would be #30 nationally if she had enough attempts on 3s. 41.3%
Paopao leads the nation at 49.2% BUT is second on the team to Tessa Johnson who is 50%
Robert Cray comes to mind

Great points. I was thinking the same thing about our post players last night. Arkansas' paint defense and defensive rebounding are much better than most people think. Their issue this season has been, surprisingly, on offense and perimeter defense. Last night was indicative of their season: both teams hit 8 3's, but we only attempted 19 while the Hogs attempted 41!

Watkins is sooo good defensively. The only players who have given her trouble this season were Pili and Javyn Nicholson. Both are bulky players who were able to back Ashlyn down in the post and then use their bodies to create enough separation to get off a shot near the basket. What really makes Watkins special is her ability to switch on to any player on the court. You don't see a guard try to isolate her and take the ball to the basket. They are aware, that even if they can get by Watkins, she can block them from behind. As I watched the other Watkins playing for the other USC last night, I thought Ashlyn probably has about the best chance of stopping her as anyone in the country. Juju uses her size to shoot over smaller defenders, and given how tall she is, even a "big guard" like Bree would have a difficult time stopping her.

While Ashlyn brings defensive versatility, Feagin brings offensive versatility. As you stated, she's very good with her back to the basket. She's also effective in the high post. She can hit that free throw line jumper and she's also a skilled passer into the low post. She had 3 assists last night to go along with 9 rebounds.

Here are some of Feagin's offensive stats in SEC play:

#1 on the team in Point Per Play
#1 on the team (and conference) in Shooting Percentage (65%)
#1 on the team in Free Throw Rate
#2 on the team in Offensive Win Share per 40 minutes
#3 on the team in Player Efficient Rating (behind Cardoso and Watkins)
#1 on the team (and #2 in the conference) in Player Offensive Rating

She's up to 14 minutes a game, so her stats can't be dismissed as simply padded "garbage time" stats.

It's just difficult to get her more minutes because of all the other posts we have. Cardoso and Kitts had good games last night as well. They are strictly a 5 and a 4, respectively, so they aren't as versatile as Watkins and Feagin. Perhaps coach is still working out how to combine them. I like it, a lot. If the team can improve even a little, then that's what we should be striving for. Not just satisfied with winning.

We gotta feel good about the post situation next season, even if Cardoso leaves. I'm less concerned that Feagin might transfer after she's been given more run during conference play. That SEC documentary also showed how involved she is in practice. She seems like a diehard Gamecock, for sure. We've only lost 3 games since she stepped on campus. Feagin and Hall have a chance to compile a better record as class than the Freshies.

Tired of seeing her? Me too, especially on this forum. What in the heck does she have to do with South Carolina Women's Basketball and our quest for a title except for the prospect of her team beating us. It's like me jumping on a Gamecock forum and posting everyday, "You know Jayden Daniels" is the best QB in the SEC, right". Great player, but her fans are becoming annoying. It's like the Tebow Cult.

Wonder what’s up with Chloe not starting?
We are just that deep. It's hard to keep a starting position on this team. Ashlyn is really developing on the offensive end. You can tell her confidence is growing. Even Feagin is getting better. She is not on the level of Ashlyn or Chloe, but she is really coming along too. It's nothing that Chloe is doing wrong. Ashlyn is just playing at a level that commands minutes. Our 4 position is loaded. Will get even deeper next year.
