We are just that deep. It's hard to keep a starting position on this team. Ashlyn is really developing on the offensive end. You can tell her confidence is growing. Even Feagin is getting better. She is not on the level of Ashlyn or Chloe, but she is really coming along too. It's nothing that Chloe is doing wrong. Ashlyn is just playing at a level that commands minutes. Our 4 position is loaded. Will get even deeper next year.
I actually think CDS loves to play Watkins and Kitts together. They work really well in tandem. They share the ball and both can step out and hit the mid range shot. It also gives them a leg up for next season when Cardoso leaves

Tired of seeing her? Me too, especially on this forum. What in the heck does she have to do with South Carolina Women's Basketball and our quest for a title except for the prospect of her team beating us. It's like me jumping on a Gamecock forum and posting everyday, "You know Jayden Daniels" is the best QB in the SEC, right". Great player, but her fans are becoming annoying. It's like the Tebow Cult.
It's like a storm. You weather it until it passes, which will be soon. My sole concern regarding her is that she doesn't go out a winner, especially at our expense. That would be insufferable. Living with it would be intolerable.

I've been noticing that. We are a little smaller, but Watkins' athleticism makes up for it. I have always liked Feagin's offensive game too. The key for her is attention to detail and staying out of foul trouble on defense. Great touch around the rim. I have been waiting for her to get what Coach wants so everyone can see her offensive talent.

OK, I have not seen it expressed like this, and I'm going to dinner so y'all fire away if I'm just way off base. I'll check later whether I have been tarred and feathered. :ROFLMAO:

Last night Watkins was the penciled in starter with Cardoso, PaoPao, Hall, and R. Johnson. Watkins was pulled to presumptively maintain her status as Sixth Player of the Year. Absent that anomaly, has Kitts lost her starting spot to Watkins?

I actually just think CDS is testing out pairings on the front court. Watkins normally backs up Cardoso in the post and is paired with Feagins. As I mentioned above, Kitts and Watkins seem to have more compatibility. Feagins May open up more opportunities for Cardoso as she is stronger in the post. Maybe CDS is not only experimenting but giving other teams more to think about 🤷‍♂️

A lot is just going on with our front court rotation

* Kitts, Watkins, Feagin and even Walker have gotten much better as the year has progressed.
* Yes, DS is protecting Watkins so she gets 6POY.
* We have played many different types of teams and DS has experimented and gone to school with different front court pairings. Last year she just wrote in Boston, Saxton, and Beal no matter what. I think she is prepping this team to have situational lineups to combat specific types of teams.
* Kitts pairs well with everyone offensively. She gets the other post players the ball, spaces well and is a mid range threat, will attack the rim if it’s there. Defensively she is a good defender and rebounder but there are matchups that are tough for her.
*Watkins pairs well with everyone defensively and is a menace to whoever she guards. Her offense is still developing. Meaning, she can go to the basket, shoot the 12 footer BUT can she do it tonight? If she hits that second 12 footer, well my friend you are screwed.
*Feagin is a wild card. She does everything well and would start at every other school in the conference except the Barbies. She just needs some playing time, a little confidence and maybe an occasional dose of adderal to focus.
* Cardoso, just be dominant girl. If she is dominant. Everybody eats, everybody scores, everybody smiles and dances.

I think it's clear that, regardless of which players start or which combinations play for the first 3 quarters, Dawn wants Cardoso and Watkins on the floor together in the 4th. They started the 4th together last night. Against LSU, I believe Watkins only played 10 minutes total; coach held her out due to early foul trouble. She wanted Cardoso and Watkins out of foul trouble and rested for the 4th quarter push. Same for the UT game when we dominated the final quarter.

Speaking of 4th quarter domination, did anyone notice how gassed Arkansas appeared to be last night in the 4th. They kept trying to run with us but were only able to muster 10 points in that final stanza. The three point shots that were falling early on turned into air balls late. Our depth took it's toll once again....

First and third quarters were basically even
2nd quarter was 21-9 and 4th was 27-10. Arkansas is a very fit team. In postgame one of their players said they were just gassed in the second quarter. She said it was a combination of pace and constant pressure of the D and the pressure of having to produce on every possession just to keep it close.

@CockyGirl are we expecting visitors tomorrow?

Ladies and gentleman this is Dawn Staley #5(WNBA Number)

One, two, three, four, five
Everybody in the car, so come on, let's ride
To the liquor store around the corner
The boys say they want some gin and juice
But I really don't wanna
Beer-bust like I had last week
I must stay deep because talk is cheap

A little bit of Adhel in our life
A little bit of Joyce by our side
A little bit of Maddie’s all we need
A little bit of Jazzy’s what I see
A little bit of Aaliyah in the sun
A little bit of Sarah 4 years Strong
A little bit of Divine here we are
A little bitty birdie makes us your team

Mambo number 5

I've never seen so many low-percentage shots thrown up in one game by one team. And playing a game that fast with only eight players was hopeless from the start.

For our part, lots of good dishes but still a considerable number of mishandled balls, I imagine owing to our relentless efforts to push tempo. We'll have to be crisper when the opponents get better and losing means going home. I'd like to see more great first quarters.

I haven’t been up on recruiting lately 😳. Need to get back on my game!!!
After a quick search on Twitter and insta, I don’t get a feeling that we are all that in it with Aaliyah Chavez (Dawn doesn’t even follow her on Twitter). Jazzy Davidson follows several of our team members but likes a ton of Stanford and LSU stuff. Zakiyah Johnson and Dee Alexander have us in their top 15. Interaction wise Zakiyah follows a lot of the team but Dee does not. Dee seems more quiet on social media though. Couldn’t get a feel on Divine Bourrage.

I definitely think there will be visitors tomorrow. Yall report back if you see any … had foot surgery so I’m stuck home for a couple of weeks 😢

Sorry to hear about your foot situation. You must have gotten too close to Davidson's WBB team. [They just had to pull the plug on the rest of their season. Down to six healthy players. They had been 18-8.]

Anyhow, get well soon. 👍🙏

Hearing anything on Sarah? I think we need to get her in for an OV to have a serious chance. Get well soon !!!

I honestly think no one knows anything on her except she and her family. She started following Kellie Harper the other day 🤷‍♀️. Probably just to mess with everyone 🤣

If I had to guess I would say us or UConn.

I think that Coach Staley noticed that the team plays a little faster or plays at a more efficient paste when Kitts and Watkins plays together. This occurred in the Missouri, Uconn and Kentucky game. Instead of removing Cardoso from the starting lineup, insert Feagin who has improved her game. When Kitts enters the game she is aggressive and has more room to work.

Why the Devan Downey reference? Number of over 25 points in a row?

Devan Downey and the Gamecocks beat #1 and undefeated UK when he scored 30. He almost single handedly beat UK who started 3 first round picks most notably Cousins and Wall with another first round pick on the bench. He played 38 minutes and had the ball in his hands almost the entire game on offense. It is one of our most improbable victories in the program’s history. There is no DD on the UT team.

Yes, indeed! I do remember that game as I was there. Just one of the most memorable experiences witnessed as a Gamecock fan. Forever to Thee!

Chances of seniors returning:

Cardoso 30%
Paopao 40%
Walker 90%

If foreign players can't earn NIL money, then it seems unlikely Cardoso would return, even though I think she enjoys playing here.

Paopao has accomplished her personal goals imo. But her family did move here, so I guess there is a chance she plays another season.

I'm 100% sure Walker will take another year, but with players able to transfer multiple times now without sitting out, I have to account for the possibility she could transfer.

I really like PaoPao and for selfish reasons I want her to stay but I honestly think she should leave. She's playing much improved defense and she's leading the nation in 3 point FG%. This year's draft is looking to be less guard oriented so I think it's best she leave now with everything lining up for her especially at her size.

Next year's draft is shaping up to be really loaded between traditional seniors and Covid seniors all competing for limited roster spots. Next year she would be competing with Hall, Bueckers, Fudd, Rori Harmon, Olivia Miles ( potentially), Amoore (potentially) and more.

That was an exciting game, definitely the kinda of game we needed before going into the postseason. Just enough of a scare to show that competing for a championship won't be easy.
I didn't like it. I wanted to pulverize this particular opponent on Senior Day. Instead, they will go away feeling somehow validated. We encouraged every half-decent opponent we will play moving forward.
