We need Coach Yo to come up big tonight. I would love to see the upset, but I expect Stanford to win.

How convincingly, though, I don't know. Should be an interesting game to watch.
I’m interested to see how Stanford PGs hold up against Angel Baker

Iowa ZERO bench points and got beat on the boards by 12

Dawn is known for her unique attire. If you do not like it…it gives you a reason for not liking the USC women’s coach. I choose to ignore what she wears and recognize her contributions to our university. Frank Martin was certainly a garnet and black kind of guy. Where did that get us? (I guarantee you…if Tanner told her she had to wear garnet and black to every game…she would leave. Dawn is successful and marches to her own drums!)

No other coach in USC history has accomplished what Dawn has, outside of Tanner. And she has an undefeated juggernaut this season thus far. And yet some posters on here have to post the same old tiring retread vitriol towards Dawn. Clearly it's personal for these posters, and they can't seem to grasp the concept that they are just making themselves look bad. Winning isn't enough, there is a need to complain about clothing attire? Lmao!

Staley wore a Yolanda Laney Cheyney State jersey. She explained why she wore it:
One of my friends texted me and asked me if I wanted a jersey. They didn't really ask me to wear the jersey, and I was like, of course, I like the jersey, I like what it stands for, I like that it's Coach Stringer, who just had her birthday on March 17th; Yolanda Laney, who wore this - not this jersey, but she's from Philly, grew up -- she actually started leagues for us. Like when I was younger, we played in something called the DBL, and she was very much a part of creating that league to give younger players an opportunity to just come together and play in the summertime. So fond memories of that. I mean, Cheyney State was the only HBCU to make it to a Final Four, and for them to be led by Coach Stringer who opened doors that now I walk through, I mean, it was truly an honor to wear this jersey and to represent them.

Don't think the "unique attire" has anything to do with her coaching and winning games. She is a great coach and winning games/championships does the talking for her!
Wear Gamecock attire and it becomes a non-issue.
Make it about the Gamecocks when on the court and not her clothing.
She can make her "fashion" statements off the court.

Sorry, I was just on hold on the phone with Blockbuster Video and I missed that. Can you repeat it?
You'll get a better quality picture from an over-the-air HD broadcast than anything cable/satellite/streaming can deliver.

Watching the Under Amour commercial, it looks like it does not include the whole team. Aliyah, obviously, and the some underclassmen -- Raven, Breezy, Feagin, Watkins -- appear.

I noticed Feagin also appears in the AT&T commercial, the one with A'ja in it. I'm glad we're throwing some NIL money Feagin's way. We want her to hang around.

How about honoring the school that pays her ridiculous salary?
Would she have honored that program if it wasn't a HBCU?
Everyone knows what she's about.
While I have disagreed with some of her emphases, truth demands that we recognize that the university pays only a portion of her compensation. Her considerable supplemental income is made possible by marketability that she herself created. In other words, she earned this remuneration by reason of her performance, and most of it has not come from athletic department coffers.

Because the cause is always about skin color with her.

It's obvious this country is being divided up by every characteristic imaginable with a special month for everybody.

Until we get past that, it will never get better. Of course it's easier to conquer the divided so this just plays into the hands of our government who wants us to hate each other.

Society, like DS, is too ignorant to see that.

Well said,

My experience of you is that you seem to be anti anything that is about African American voices that are assertive. How are you doing on speaking out on divisive voices that are not African American? I’m curious

Too much fashion talk, not enough basketball talk.

So, about the game...best game of the season for Bree Hall and, yes, Victaria Saxton. Credit where credit is due. VS shot 3 airballs, but it doesn't matter. Her defense was outstanding! She had 4 blocks to go along with 5 rebounds. We were +32 with her on the court; tied with Zia for best on the team. Breezy also played excellent defense and pulled down 6 rebounds as well. Boston was very good defensively, as we have come to expect. USF only scored 16 points in the 2nd half.

On the negative side, it wasn't the best game for the Raven/Cardoso combo. Playing uptempo can lead to easy baskets for us, but it can also lead to easy baskets for our opponent, if we don't execute properly. Our rebounding and defense are so good (16 points in a half!), we could probably slow the game down and just grind our way to the title. It will be interesting to see how Dawn plays it going forward.

UCLA will not be an easy out on Saturday. We only beat them 73-64 back in Dec. and they led by 10 at one point. However, they only shot 32% for the game after shooting 55% in the 1st quarter but 20% in the 4th. Osborne had 24 points. She scored 36 tonight vs Oklahoma but 12 were from the FT line. Boston, Cardoso and Fletcher all were in double figures to lead our scoring. Of note, Beal did not score on 0-4 shooting. She has been very efficient on offense as the season has progressed and we should not expect another 0-fer. Also, our bench outscored them 27-6. Our FT shooting was not good.....67%.

Actually, after reviewing the stats from the first meeting I think we will win going away. It looks like the defense was the key in the game and that has always been a constant with this team. Raven was not at full strength either. Hold Osborne to 20 points and lock down their other shooters, create turnovers, stay out of foul trouble and hit our free throws should be a recipe for success. Let's hope the officials don't throw a monkey wrench into the works. They were horrible tonight in the UCLA-OU game calling a foul on just about every trip down the court.

(I'm not trying to jinx them. On to the elite eight!)

I think you are correct that we win and that there is a good chance that we win going away.

UCLA was the first team to double sometimes triple Boston before she even got the ball. They were also the first team to run a triangle and two against us. It took pretty much the entire half to figure that out. We made the adjustments. I don’t believe that they can throw anything at us defensively that will be a surprise.

They battled us almost even on the boards, they have a good depth of big bodies. They were particularly effective on the offensive glass. We shot 1-14 from 3 and were not good on FTs. We only had 9 TOs as they did very little pressure in half court.

Shooters must be able to forget. 😂

What’s so ironic, is that Zia had an absolutely horrible game, 4-18 and 1-5 from three. She made some memorably dreadful choices on shot selection. In particular, she made a steal, but she was 1v4 and still jacked up a fade away 15 footer from the baseline and hit the side of the backboard.
If I were her I would have forgotten that game also

good point on the making the adjustments on O. we were down 31-21 late in the second quarter and from that point on in the game, we outscored UCLA by 19. It took a couple of quarters, but we made the adjustments and grinded it out.

I also think what played a part was it being early in the season, we're no. 1, playing at home, and may have been a little overconfident/relaxed to start. we were coming off that emotional win at Stanford and played two cupcakes the week right before. UCLA came in here that night and played us with no fear or intimidation and put us on our heels.

I believe we'll see a better focus and intensity from the start this time around knowing what's at stake.
