That’s a massive stretch. He came in two years after the program was hit with the worst ever sanctions besides SMU in NCAA history.

My opinion on what Franklin inherited:
Franklin inherited a team that was only dressing 40 something scholarship players in away games at times. Even the 2016 team still had converted DL playing OL out of necessity. Those sanctions stung for longer than the actual duration of them. The facilities were far outdated as evidenced by both BO’B and JF’s public request to update things as soon as they took over. And both BO’B and JF walking into a fractured fanbase, that still continues to a certain extent.
remember how depleted our LB's were in 2016? a couple injuries and then in the Michigan game Brandon Smith gets ejected for the worst targeting call in the history of targeting calls
Didn't he also only have 7 or 9 scholarship OL at the time? 2-3 were barely D1 OL as well. People love to rewrite history, but OB and JF had to do a lot of heavy lifting to get this program to even inch further along. Coaches pay to be competitive, new weightroom, facility upgrades, recruiting budgets....so much they had to fight for. Hell people here on this site are still are proud of not helping the program because their little idol got damaged.....not due to the current HC's or players, but the BoT and other folks. The odd ones are the ones that brag about doing this and then complain about PSU not being elite or competing better with the schools that acutally do back their programs 100%.
PSU football attendance for 2012 took a slight hit but was still 5th in the country. Attendance totally rebounded by 2014.
Boise would be a top 10 win and it would virtually guarantee Franklin's first top 5 finish. I think it definitely moves the bar. Just not as much as beating a blue blood like ND or GA.

1-10 means you win 1 game out of 11. Therefore 1/11 =0.0909, 9.09%. Same thing with 4-17, 21 games played, 4/21=0.19, 19%. You absolutely could have figured this out yourself if you gave it two minutes thought (think baseball). And really, shame on you for making up 4-17 is 8%, 1-10 is 13%. Part of being a functioning adult is being aware of what you don’t know. Don’t contribute to the BS epidemic in our society.
