I would take a win by 1!Odds are PS by 18. Seems a bit high. I was thinking more 10-14.
PSU could win by 100 and some here would still whine about itI would take a win by 1!
That’s not funny Bob. That was time off of our lives that we will never get back.O/U on the number of overtimes?
Don't you know that by demanding perfection, the BWICAC is holding the coaches and players accountable. This is their primary motivation to perform.PSU could win by 100 and some here would still whine about it
that is a sizeable spread for any top 20 game. I know they usually give 7 for home advantage. if we won by 17 and didn't cover, I would feel like that was a very solid win over a good team. in the end a win is a win though by any margin.Odds are PS by 18. Wow. I’d put a significant bet on Illinois at +18 if I were a betting person.Odds are PS by 18. Seems a bit high. I was thinking more 10-14.
But you're the obsessed oneMarshall and Nitt1300 when they see each other defending Franklin premptively in every single thread….

The posters on premium board are yawning over this game.
10 going for the recordO/U on the number of overtimes?
Hoping it drops to 17 on Hard Rock. PSU has covered a LOT of games like this the past 20 or so games (as you know). As far as betting power ratings go, I have PSU as a 22 point favorite at home for a night game (and I have adjusted Illinois up quite a bit over the season). With the way the Illinois plays, 22 does feel a bit high, but 17 to 18 does not. If the line was set at -10 to -14, it would immediately be bet up.
7 points for HFA is wayyyyy too high. The standard used to be 3 points, but it really varies from 1 to 4. PSU white out and LSU night games can be up to 5 points but that is super high. Here is a study on HFA for all teams....https://www.actionnetwork.com/ncaaf/college-football-home-field-advantage-2024
They are skibidi.Seems about 60% yawners. Hope the players don’t think like that.
It's 17 right now at bookmaker, so your wish should probably come true.Hoping it drops to 17 on Hard Rock. PSU has covered a LOT of games like this the past 20 or so games (as you know).
Hard Rock doesn't have an IU spread yet. I'm watching. They've been an ATM. Covers has it at 7. Hope I get it at that. It's 17 right now at bookmaker, so your wish should probably come true.
Likely north of 20 games. I think JF is like 2nd or 3rd highest coach ATS. (Probably DeBoer 1st -that guy has been a bettor's dream). Any half savvy football bettor knows that he tries to cover spreads. Bet against PSU at your own risk.

One of the problems I see with this board and social media in general is that it’s difficult to put a complete argument for your position in 2-3 sentences. The reader then assumes you’ve written your entire thought. Disagreement ensues.Sad how many threads are littered with completely irrelevant and unnecessary cheap shots at fellow posters. I refer, of course, to the self-congratulatory BWICAC references and the calling out of nobody in particular for being hypothetically unhappy about PSU and/or Franklin where no such displeasure has been expressed. Please continue to toot your behind-the-keyboard “superior fan” horns because it apparently boosts your self esteem.
Remember Sean Clifford was injured but played. I won’t go into why no one was ready to take his place for one game.Bielema came to our house two years ago and walked out with the ultimate grind it out win. If he has the horses or has the ponies believing they are Kentucky derby horses, he can out scheme Franklin and keep it close again. At the end of the day I would think we have the better depth and more talent at the skills positions, plus we are at home. Though none of that seemed to matter two years ago. I would like to see a pretty convincing beating here, 31-10 ish. But I would also settle for the one point win and move on.
The only problem with this board is that there is a lack of traffic. One of the problems I see with this board and social media in general is that it’s difficult to put a complete argument for your position in 2-3 sentences. If Penn State is truly a contender, then I would think that they should be able to beat a #19 team by greater than 18 points. I think they played the way you would hope they play against a team like Kent State and I would expect them to beat Illinois with a score something like 28-10 or 35-17 with the game never in question. Now I'll take any win but a convincing one this weekend would enable me to enjoy my beer in relaxation instead of pounding them to calm my nerves.Odds are PS by 18. Seems a bit high. I was thinking more 10-14.

It’d just be old men oogling booby pictures they could find via a quick google search.
FPI has them 40th. Sagarin Predictor has them 44th. SP+ has them 43rd. So 30 is probably conservative.I expect there are at least 30 teams around the country that would be neutral field favorites over Illinois. Maybe significantly more. (Sports betting gurus? Thoughts?)

Not that my personal power ratings are any more meaningful, but that's where I have them too.I expect there are at least 30 teams around the country that would be neutral field favorites over Illinois. Maybe significantly more. (Sports betting gurus? Thoughts?)
Probably 40 or more on their home field (ie, over 1/2 of the P4 teams in the country)
Different styles of teams, but I would think overall quality is in the WVU range.
That doesn't mean it couldn't / won't be a competitive game on Saturday. You never know.

and like four times we missed simple plays to win that freaking game, running backs hitting off of a lineman instead of hitting a hole, slips, drops all kinds of crap, it was really frustratingRemember Sean Clifford was injured but played. I won’t go into why no one was ready to take his place for one game.
this feels like one of those games where a lot of people are saying "Penn State better be careful around this tough Illinois team, Bielema is scheming something up" and then we beat them by 21 points and a bunch of people ( not necessarily the same ones) claim that Illinois was never that good anyway
