This was Sunday.
And the funny thing is that the girl from LSU did this to Clark and so did this girl all in response to Caitlin doing it once…but Caitlin was doing it to her strength coach, not a girl from the other team. The girl she supposedly did it to is good friends with Caitlin and knew she was doing it to her strength coach, so she thinks it’s ridiculous these other people are using against Clark.I saw that! She said that was a gesture their team uses to call a defense cough*bullsh!t*cough….
So if she breaks Maravich’s all time record, they’re supposed to not say anything about it? Seems like a pretty big deal even if it took her four years to do it. How many other players broke it in four years even with a 3 point line? But they are. Every graphic shows how many points behind Pistol Pete she is. Even though he only played 3 yrs, and played without a 3 pt line. Oh ya and with a larger ball which was tougher to get in the basket.
Pete would've had 5000 pts with a 3 pt line and extra year.
as does our boy Bob.With heavier balls you don’t need to use as much force. Women hate that!
Note that it would be a 5th year. This is her 4th.$15 seats at Carver-Hawkeye are going for $375-400. Place is a sell-out. I wonder if the hotels and restaurants want her back for a 6th year.
Agree, she's the best women's CBB player I've seen in quite a few years but I really believe Indiana and OSU women go farther in the tournament as both have overall better depth than Iowa23 points at the end of the first quarter. She’s on a whole different level.
I don’t think Iowa will go very far, their defense stinks.Agree, she's the best women's CBB player I've seen in quite a few years but I really believe Indiana and OSU women go farther in the tournament as both have overall better depth than Iowa
Maybe that gives her more incentive to come back next season. I hope.I don’t think Iowa will go very far, their defense stinks.
I remember when Kelly Mazzante surpassed Calbert Cheaney as the all time Big Ten scoring leader (since surpassed by three other women). At the time IU alum Heather Dinich was a CDT staff writer. She wrote articles claiming Mazzante shouldn't be celebrated as the "all time Big Ten basketball scoring leader" because the men's and women's games aren't comparable. Maybe she was simply going to bat for an Indiana player, I don't know.So if she breaks Maravich’s all time record, they’re supposed to not say anything about it? Seems like a pretty big deal even if it took her four years to do it. How many other players broke it in four years even with a 3 point line?
Dinich is trash, personal experience from her reporting on my teams down here in Baltimore…I remember when Kelly Mazzante surpassed Calbert Cheaney as the all time Big Ten scoring leader (since surpassed by three other women). If Dinich wants to be true to herself, she should use her ESPN platform tell everyone Clark shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Maravich.
So if she breaks Maravich’s all time record, they’re supposed to not say anything about it? Seems like a pretty big deal even if it took her four years to do it. How many other players broke it in four years even with a 3 point line?
They should share that money with Clark, she is solely responsibly for their increase in revenue.$15 seats at Carver-Hawkeye are going for $375-400. Place is a sell-out. I wonder if the hotels and restaurants want her back for a 6th year.
The problem is once they are sold the resale folks get the $$$'s. If Iowa jacked the prices up that high on their own fans....well then they suck even worse as humans. They should share that money with Clark, she is solely responsibly for their increase in revenue.

Imo, that is an interesting point of comparison, but in no way is it apples-to-apples. I'd like for the media to show her points total and avgs next to the men's NCAA points and avg leader, the NBA all-time leader, the WNBA leader, the Boys' and Girls' HS all-time points leaders, etc. It's all basketball, sure, but at different levels and in some cases, markedly different levels. It's a 'wow' moment, putting it into relative perspective but not a direct comparison. So if she breaks Maravich’s all time record, they’re supposed to not say anything about it? What a whining, cranky, I don't like women sports, ball of fun you are. Jesus help us.If the women's game was played with a men's regulation sized basketball I would be all with the Caitlin Clark media frenzy. But the women's game is played with a smaller basketball but with the same sized hoop. To me it's easier for the smaller ball to fit through the hoop compared to a men's basketball. I am tired of the women's basketball game being compared to the men's when they play with a smaller ball. It is not apples to apples. Apologies to anyone offended but I cannot take the Clark hoopla. The other being Swift and Kelse.
Never happen…. She is Master of her Domain!Still waiting to see caitlin clark stroke it with bigger balls.
They’re comparing two players that both play D-1 college basketball. No one is saying she’s as good as Maravich, but she’s going to break a record that many others could have broken but didn’t. And when she does break it, Maravich will still be the all time leading scorer for men, so nothing will change.Imo, that is an interesting point of comparison, but in no way is it apples-to-apples. We do not assume an apples-apples comparison when it comes to college football Div. 1A vs. Div. 1AA. This is at least a little more similar to comparing men's vs women's bball, but far from a real parallel.
She's phenomenal. Fun to watch, great teammate, humble but understands that she is on a different level, "gets it" as well as any 22 year old with some success could hope to, all that. Imo, let her be phenomenal in her sport, be an inspiration for girls and boys, recognize her accomplishments, etc., but let's not try to extrapolate her stats onto other bball leagues where the games are different enough to be easily recognized.
Maravich and Clark both play D-1 NCAA basketball….she’s not playing in Europe.Ask the same media who compares her to Maravich, who holds the record for home runs. It’s probably the guy in Japan who broke Aaron’s record.
Bayou Barbie did give a nice congrats . If it wasn’t for the Iowa, USCe and LSU games blowing up last year , women’s basketball would be more on the back burner. This is maybe the best thing to ever happen to women's basketball.

Almost all records that are broken come under different circumstances and rules. Thats why I don't really get involved in discussions about "Greatest of all time". The individuals in question were simply great in their game at their time.So if she breaks Maravich’s all time record, they’re supposed to not say anything about it? I agree and the game often changes so that certain records will never be broken (like Cy Young’s wins record). That doesn’t mean the person who holds the record is so much better than anyone that has ever played, just that the game has changed.Almost all records that are broken come under different circumstances and rules. Thats why I don't really get involved in discussions about "Greatest of all time". The individuals in question were simply great in their game at their time.
It’s really silly. One is playing men’s D-1 basketball, one is playing women’s D-1 basketball. They are not the same thing.Maravich and Clark both play D-1 NCAA basketball….she’s not playing in Europe.
Everybody realizes that, but she broke the women’s all time scoring record and they show where she’s at in relation to Maravich to show what an unbelievable record it is. Don’t you think if there was a women’s professional baseball league and someone hit in 57 games in a row they would say that was longer than DiMaggio’s streak just to put it in perspective? It’s really silly. One is playing men’s D-1 basketball, one is playing women’s D-1 basketball. They are not the same thing.
