Everyone who played for USC was off. No one looked like a number one team.Saxton played 16 minutes and 20 seconds without a rebound. She scored 2 points, shot a airball from 10 feet, committed a turnover. So many better options on the roster.
As a team, we played flat. Give OM some credit for that. They have a very good defense. Ranked 8th. Effective gameplan that didn't allow us to do what we usually do. Zia had a monster game. 24 points, 2 steals, 4 assista and 6 RBs. Boston had a double double although she had to play a lot of minutes. Kamilla had 8 points and 11 rebounds. Raven played well and so did Beal. We had to keep our starters in for a lot of minutes. Only had 11 points from the bench. We usually have mid 30's at least. It's very difficult for any team to go undefeated. We get everyone's best game.Everyone who played for USC was off. No one looked like a number one team.
You win the Cliche of the Day Award....We get everyone's best game.
Zia Cooke was not off. She was outstanding. Not only did she score 24 (8 of 9 from the free throw line) she made the key defensive play of the game when she stole the ball from Angel Baker in OT.Everyone who played for USC was off. No one looked like a number one team.
I think Cooke played a good game but she was also off. She made some unnecessary and costly low IQ plays at key moments that could have opened up the game in our favor. Overall she still played a good game but sometimes her hero mode play puts the team at a detriment.Zia Cooke was not off. She was outstanding. When you say we had to keep "our starters in for a lot of minutes," you mean Aliyah, Zia and Brea because Fletcher only played 12 minutes and Saxton played 16.As a team, we played flat. Thank God we have analytics so we aren't just reliant on our faulty perceptions. Zia had the best efficiency rating on the team, by far, yesterday. I didn't refute that and the game is more than just stats. Low IQ plays has consequences, for all the good she did, she also made some questionable ones that put the team at a detriment at times.Thank God we have analytics so we aren't just reliant on our faulty perceptions. Yes. I have no problem w/Dawn starting Fletcher and Saxton. She's quick to pull them if necessary. While Raven and Cardoso are better players, both tend to get in foul trouble. I would rather have them later in the game when we might really need them. When you say we had to keep "our starters in for a lot of minutes," you mean Aliyah, Zia and Brea because Fletcher only played 12 minutes and Saxton played 16.
Raven played 30 minutes and Cardoso 36. Both played all of overtime.
Dawn's playing with fire by playing fake starters. The NCAA tournament is one loss and go home. Get off to a "slow start" against the wrong team and there will be no national championship despite having the best roster in the country.
Hopefully this game was a wakeup call.
I think that Mississippi coach McPhee-McCuin prepared her team well for us. It also helped her cause that we didn't shoot particularly well from the field. When you say we had to keep "our starters in for a lot of minutes," you mean Aliyah, Zia and Brea because Fletcher only played 12 minutes and Saxton played 16.

Cardoso gets in foul trouble. Never noticed that Raven gets in foul trouble very often. If wrong about Raven, I will be happy to see the stats.Yes. People are salivating over any opportunity to discount us.Seriously?

S.C. still No. 1, but Indiana grabs first-place vote
South Carolina remains atop the women's AP poll for the 35th straight week, but lost a first-place vote after needing overtime to beat Ole Miss. Indiana, a winner of 14 straight, got the other first-place vote.www.espn.com
What does Northern Colorado have to do with the ACC?Look at the latest NCAA Women's Bracketology...The ACC gets in 9 teams and the SEC 7. I know it's a prediction but they are trying they're best to make sure UNC gets in...

Chapel hill is 26 in NET. They are not some borderline NCAA team. Unless Miss St. wins their last two and 1 in SEC Tournament they won’t make the NCAAs. My prediction in Sept was was 6 SEC teams. SEC is just down this year. ACC is just a deeper conference this yearLook at the latest NCAA Women's Bracketology...The ACC gets in 9 teams and the SEC 7. They go down again.UCONN in another 4th quarter game, this time with SJU
Now lets see ESPNs spin on a 5 loss UConn team being a number one seed. I personally think its a joke they were projected a one seed with four losses. Now they are going to have to get really creative. They go down again.

Does Barker’s move to A&M count as a transfer?Mizzou beat A&M 61-35. Joanie Taylor didn't call a single timeout. Aggie fans feel like she's already packed it in for the season. Janiah Barker picked up 3 charges in the 1st half. She was visibly frustrated. The announcer talked several times about her controlling her emotions. I remember following her social media posts and they were definitely a bit unusual. It wouldn't shocked me if she transfers at the end of the season. She hard to read, though.

Azzi Fudd will make a difference when she returns, but how much?
I feel for Ducharme, she's actually a great player but she's had multiple concussions and neck issues. I believe she keeps coming back too soon.Check out that stat line for Ducharme:

Yikes. Watching the replay, St John did a good job driving her off the line. She couldn't finish inside to save her life. UCONN needs to be better in the paint. The main reason they are only scoring in the 60's because they aren't getting enough offensive rebounds.
I thought the biggest play in the game came with a bad flagrant foul call on UCONN late in the game. Even after St John's hit the free throws, the Huskies were still were leading, but they didn't seem to respond well. That's the danger of Geno constantly complaining about the officials -- it gives his team an excuse to lose.
Great point. Too much expectation that she's going to fix a lot of problems that even if she was 100% I'm not sure she could.I feel for Ducharme, she's actually a great player but she's had multiple concussions and neck issues. I believe she keeps coming back too soon.
She hit her head in the Villanova game, she had to checkout and of course you know they checked her back in the game in it's final minutes. In the St. Johns game she was seen on the sidelines icing her head with an ice pack. At some point you have to consider the long term health of the players over the potential short term gain of having them play this season. I don't think that program is doing what's in her best interest.
Well, let's put it this way: to cast them as a #1 seed shows contempt for college WBB as a whole. Is that something they really want to do?Now lets see ESPNs spin on a 5 loss UConn team being a number one seed. I personally think its a joke they were projected a one seed with four losses. Not disagreeing with you, but who is the fourth #1 seed? This is the rest of the top 10, not one of them shouts #1 seed.Well, let's put it this way: to cast them as a #1 seed shows contempt for college WBB as a whole. Is that something they really want to do?
I'm fine with the 6 weeks out. What I'm not fine with, is that a player that is concussion prone literally has scare with a collision to the head and instead of getting it properly evaluated, they put her back in the game. I just don't like where this is headed.Ducharme also had concussions last year.
When she had her concussion this year they held her out 6 weeks and ran her through protocols. I don’t believe they rushed her back.
She just seems to be concussion prone. I do not know if that is physiology or style of play or both.
Her injuries harken back to Cindy Parlow Cone who had to retire from soccer at age 25. She had started 158 matches for the USA national team and scored 71 goals. She had a series of concussions and retired on emphatic medical advice.
I hope Ducharme gets a second or third opinion from neurologists who don’t give a damn whether she ever plays basketball again
