An aside, I see Vince and Janet (PSU grad) Papale a lot. They are both super nice people who have both lived amazing lives. Vince is getting up there in age.

I was talking to him last week and asked him if he remembered Ronnie Heller (LT) when he played for the Eagles. "Oh sure! Heller was a helluva a tailback." You see and hear stuff like this from older folks all the time, and it hurts. It hurts that there isn't a switch you can turn back on.

Their daughter Gabby is so cool and nice (and attractive). Just a cool family. To avoid the flag, here is Gabriella:

No love for Gino Capone?

I was going to mention Mac Morrison but he was already noted. Didn't see Ethan Kilmer noted but that TD catch in the Orange Bowl was crucial to our win.

Tony Johnson or Jordan Norwood as well?

I've been hesitant to inject my oldtimer's view, but I have lousy self control. For you young guys, here are some players who receive little attention in modern tiimes:

1. LB Charlie Zapiec, who started his career as an OG
2. LB Gary Gray, another key player in stuffing the "vaunted" Longhorn Wishbone in the '72 Cotton Bowl
3. LB John Skorupan, who flashed the skills of a Shane Conlan
4. Safety Neal Smith, who all by himself snared 12 interceptions in the 1969 season (counting the Orange Bowl)
5. LB Ed O'Neil, who even returned a punt and an interception for touchdowns ala Dennis Onkotz
Played against Neal Smith when he was at Selinsgrove HS. The best player on that team was a Roger Hoffman (I believe they were co captains).
Roger ended up married with a child at graduation! Played some at Susquehanna after a few years working at PPL. Neal lived a few doors down from my parents after his playing days.

Zapiec cleared the block for Bob Campbell's 2 point conversion n the orange bowl. He was great at guard

My favorite PSU player grew up watching those 3yds and a cloud of dust. They had a nice, autographed pic of him in team store, no clue if its still there or not.

This'll show my age. I'm picking Bobby Campbell. Really good RB who's never mentioned among PSU great RBs. Held back some due to a knee injury, back when knee injuries always ended your season, and a shoulder injury. He had some Sportcenter-worthy runs in his day.

Who was Penn States feature running back, who when interviewed after a bowl game, against LSU or Tennessee (I can't exactly remember, I'm old) said "they didn't want no part of me". Very powerful guy. Can't recall his name. He had a big game that day.

BOB CAMPBELL... how could I forget
I was downtown at a bar named Teddy’s. The girl whose apartment was below mine was being harassed by Campbell. She ran up to me and grabbed my arm and said I was her boyfriend. Campbell followed us around for about a half an hour. He was a miserable egotist.
