PSU going for an onside kick

and it takes a high bounce right to the tOSU player. Kind of a summary of the game for PSU

Yurcich goes for the failed trick play after a couple momentum changes. Big pass play - failed trick play. Get the ball back after a punt turnover - failed trick play. No confidence in the offense? Apparently.

wow..imagine having a 5* Philly receiver for Allar to throw to this game? SMFH…

the defense would be, if that touchdown return wasn’t called off for no reason, that last touchdown was the game winning play.

that being said, Franklin sucks
So you didn't attend the game?

Agree….but who recruits the receivers? PSU….needs to scour the portal post season and load up with offensive skill talent. However… if the fan base is happy with 2 - 3 loss seasons then by all means carry on with no changes.
LOL and double the efforts to get a top OT from the portal also... :ROFLMAO:

Definitely great for a wish list each year...
Buck stops with Franklin. This is his new excuse?
LOL. Penn State does not recruit itself as we all imagine...PSU is at a higher level of talent than it would be without Franklin...but it is still significantly less than OSU, Georgia and Alabama. This particular group has some over-achievers playing beyond their rating, which is why some of us thought that we had a chance this year. For example, Fashanu and Abdul Carter would likely be 5-stars if their level of play had been accurately projected. But otherwise, there are still a very few teams who have 5-star busts that you never hear about because there is another 5-star who steps in. It is what it is, and good luck finding a coach that elevates recruiting beyond CJF's level.

I'd like to see another view of that PI call. It looked like the two players collided and the PSU player was facing the ball direction, which should give him equal rights.

Unless ALL the miscommunication was on the WRs, it wouldn't have mattered. This game was WAY too big for Allar. Obviously it's hindsight, but we should have run the ball 80% of the time. Allar was shell-shocked.

Two things I learned today.

1. Franklin still ain’t it. It seems like he was paid off to lose the game.

2. Allar ain’t it. Absolutely horrible performance on the big stage. Way overrated. Terribly inaccurate. He has a long way to go to be mediocre. Not earning his money.

Just got home in time to see the last three minutes. Glad I didn’t spend three hours watching it.
Disappointing!
Again. 🙁

Go Phil’s!
Go Eagles!

IDK if it's panic or poor philosophy by CJF but he needed to recognize that his D was keeping him in the game and his O was struggling. He needed to do all he could to keep it a 1 score game and hope to catch lightning in a bottle for 1 series.

Excuses excuses excuses. He makes $10M a year and doesn’t care.

WHAT game plan?
The one that assumes that a QB can at least occassionally throw an accurate pass. There was not enough pressure to justify the surprising degree of inaccuracy. That only compounds the "lack of separation" WR issues, when you can't even pick the low hanging fruit (complete the passes that ARE available as he has done all year up to this point). 🤷‍♂️

This game once again shows us how bad of an in-game coach both Franklin and Yurcich are. You get two big runs out of Singleton and you're in business and then decide to go completely away from it. You have a running QB sitting on your bench that you allegedly have a package for and who could come in for a series and potentially change things up with his running ability but nope, we're gonna keep trying to jam a passing game down the defense's throat with WR who can't get open. The line hasn't been all that great this year, masked by the fact that the defenses they've played have been pretty awful (Trautwein should be on watch still), so let's keep calling pass plays that take forever to develop. When Allar finally got time on the last drive, we saw what he was able to do, prevent defense be damned. He gets desperate and goes for it on 4th down from minus territory when there's still 6+ minutes left in a one-score game where his defense was kicking ***. He still hasn't learned that lesson. Then the coup d'grace is playing that stupid analytics game that I've only ever seen work once in the NFL and go for 2. All that does is force you to go for 2 if there's a next time in the case of a miss, which if anyone on that sideline understood how the game flow was going, was pretty likely.

But hey, he can take those helicopters to watch recruits on nights before road games so all is well.

do you think he’s the only one who calls plays?
