The big difference in this game were the playmakers. We do not have a Marvin Harrison type receiver. And frankly, McCord seemed more poised in crucial situations than Drew. This game is a tough one. I really felt we could beat the Bucks this year. It just demonstrates how good a program that Ohio State has. This is not one of their better teams and they still figure out how to win. Ryan Day and his staff are very good. Larry Johnson Continues to turn out great defensive lines. Best DL coach in the country.

The first time I recall seeing Saunders and Cephas was the last drive. They made an impact. Did I miss them playing earlier?

LOL and double the efforts to get a top OT from the portal also... :ROFLMAO:

Definitely great for a wish list each year...

LOL. Penn State does not recruit itself as we all imagine...PSU is at a higher level of talent than it would be without Franklin...but it is still significantly less than OSU, Georgia and Alabama. This particular group has some over-achievers playing beyond their rating, which is why some of us thought that we had a chance this year. For example, Fashanu and Abdul Carter would likely be 5-stars if their level of play had been accurately projected. But otherwise, there are still a very few teams who have 5-star busts that you never hear about because there is another 5-star who steps in. It is what it is, and good luck finding a coach that elevates recruiting beyond CJF's level.
the players easily good enough to win this one.

First true test for Allar, and sadly he looked like a guy starting his 7th gm. Didn't think they called a very good game either.

Unless ALL the miscommunication was on the WRs, it wouldn't have mattered. This game was WAY too big for Allar. Obviously it's hindsight, but we should have run the ball 80% of the time. Allar was shell-shocked.
I honestly thought he would not handle the pressure given his less than stellar play in the two previous road games.

That was in garbage time. Pretty much inconsequential. Really can't draw any conclusions based on that. As always, when it's a big game Penn State just doesn't come through.

This OSU team was definitely beatable. But in the end It just seemed like their defense played a more physical brand of football and coach Franklin had no answers. Maybe next year.

So who do I root for now? For once, I want to feel like a winner.

Georgia?

This game once again shows us how bad of an in-game coach both Franklin and Yurcich are. You get two big runs out of Singleton and you're in business and then decide to go completely away from it. You have a running QB sitting on your bench that you allegedly have a package for and who could come in for a series and potentially change things up with his running ability but nope, we're gonna keep trying to jam a passing game down the defense's throat with WR who can't get open. The line hasn't been all that great this year, masked by the fact that the defenses they've played have been pretty awful (Trautwein should be on watch still), so let's keep calling pass plays that take forever to develop. When Allar finally got time on the last drive, we saw what he was able to do, prevent defense be damned. He gets desperate and goes for it on 4th down from minus territory when there's still 6+ minutes left in a one-score game where his defense was kicking ***. He still hasn't learned that lesson. Then the coup d'grace is playing that stupid analytics game that I've only ever seen work once in the NFL and go for 2. All that does is force you to go for 2 if there's a next time in the case of a miss, which if anyone on that sideline understood how the game flow was going, was pretty likely.

But hey, he can take those helicopters to watch recruits on nights before road games so all is well.
Correct you are sir.

In spite our offense playing terrible today we still had a legit shot late in the game. The 4th down call by Franklin with that much time left is inexcusable. You give your defense a chance to make something happen. For all he does well I just can't understand how he loses site of basic football 101.

Allar got overwhelmed. I don’t think the game plan did him any favors. Again, he didn’t play last year. He is throwing against an nfl defense and coaches who are getting paid millions to make him look like a fool. All we can do is wait on him to get better. We have two really good RBs back there. No idea why we don’t lean on them.

It wasn’t garbage time. They were trying to win the game. I can’t believe the PSU coaches weren’t still trying to win, and OSU wasn’t interested in playing defense.

Yep....just shows what one more year in a program means. I'm referring to McCord. This was only his 7th start too. But he is a junior as opposed to sophomore. Drew seemed rattled at times....and did notice him crying on the sidelines as the clock round down. Not good.

Tempering expectations on unimportant schit is equal to the “happy wife, happy life” mantra. State refuses to earn any more real Fs given. If they don’t care, why should I?
And know, thid was the once or twice a decade OSU that was vulnerable to a 9-2/Kentucky AP top 10 SRARE. Will be a LONG time til they are this getable

I agree with that. Despite all the complaining about Franklin, I think that was the only bone headed thing he did. Allar was terrible. I realize that the receivers didn’t get much separation but there were too many times when guys were open and he repeatedly missed them badly. I also thought he felt pressure when guys were 3 and 4 yards away from him and didn’t step into the throws. MY’s predictable and conservative play calls on early downs didn’t help him any either.

Your claim that the players didn’t care is WAY out of line
