Sorry, I have a life. I don't sit around thinking of all the things Franklin might do so I can criticize him. I do know that his decision will be met with bitching and moaning by the peanut gallery.

You think the 10 seconds to type that sentence really ate up my day? I must be really skilled, I can both type two lines of text and accomplish other things, all in the same day!

I assumed you couldn't possibly admit there's a scenario where you'd actually criticize him for his hire, so you wouldn't answer. You didn't let me down.

Fran Brown DB coach at UGA is supposed to be named head coach at Syracuse. Apparently a great recruiter.

Not sure how often a position coach gets to be a head coach but good for him.
Well we have Charles Huff here at Marshall. Many people here think he’ll do a great job at Duke!!

Ask Mike Tomlin.

It's Franklin's decision. He has all the pertinent information. He's the CEO and wants the program to move forward in a positive fashion. What criticism, based on anything realistic would I have? 🤔

Position coach who became a head coach. Worth looking into.
If you say so....I don't follow the NFL, so I will have to take your word for it.

If a position coach can be a head coach - who am I to disagree? Just from my own views, it seems coordinators jump up to the hc level, but sure....why not?

Tomlin was the DC for the Vikings before becoming the Steelers HC.

HC responsibilities are different at the college and NFL. I'd argue that there is more of a premium on organization and planning skills at the college level, particularly in the area of player personnel.. Just an opinion and that's not to say that a position coach can't have good ones or that a coordinator automatically does.

Looks like the nitwit is trying to convince the Manning family to consider Ohio St.

So dumphuck addresses his plea to the teabagger and Ol' Arch, but neglects the kid's father. Probably too difficult to find.....oh, wait, @shaddowmanning. Stupid and lazy ain't a good formula to go through life.

“turnt”
Biggest dumshlt to come out of Youngstown since Jim "Beam Me Up" Traficant.

Just wondering if Bobby Petrino's deal includes a motorcycle- I think his old one was damaged?

Indiana close (done) to a deal with JMU’s Curt Cignetti. He’s 62 years old, a guy with deep PA roots and a proven winner everywhere he’s been.

Edit - welp, old news, “never mind”

---In a recent article from The Athletic, the top open jobs in college football were ranked from best to worst, and Duke football came in at #1. The Blue Devils typically aren’t known for their football program, but it certainly seems to be trending up. The report from The Athletic also mentioned some early candidates, and there are some intriguing ones.

“Among those in the mix are Penn State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz, NC State defensive coordinator Tony Gibson and Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, a source briefed on the hiring process told The Athletic,” The report said. “All three met with Duke on Wednesday, and the search is believed to be in the early stages.”

If Duke does manage to land Knowles or Diaz, that would be a home run hire for the program. Those two have done at good job at their current programs and it’s evident as both Ohio State and Penn State have top defenses this season.

----Head Coach Dabo Swinney announced today that Lemanski Hall, DL coach, and Thomas Austin, OL coach, will not return to Clemson's coaching staff in 2024.

Please, let Duke hire Knowles.

I believe Diaz is the only one with HC experience - which you would think would help him (Even though that stint ended badly, most former HCs have all been fired at least once, so it is probably a net positive for his case).
He might also be looking for more $$ than the other two (but maybe not, and in any event, unless there is leverage that stuff usually all works itself out).

Honestly - why do schools like Indiana fire guys? They literally will not do any better with anyone else. They paid out $20mm to fire a guy and replace him with JMU’s coach. Someone should be fired there.

The first one fired is the one who gave Allen a $35 Million guaranteed 7 year contract.
That would be this guy:

The next guy fired should be the one who canned Allen, and paid him $20 million to not work for Indiana anymore.
That would be this guy:

The third guy fired would be the one who fired Allen 12 months before the payout to can him would have dropped by 70%.

Notice a trend?

And yet these empty-headed, empty-suit muttons continue to not only burn wheelbarrows full of money on the Incompetence Bonfire - they also continue to collect their own "gag a horse"salaries.

(Dolson continues make something on the order of $750,000 per year, for his stellar contributions to IU Athletics :)
He would, obviously, have to show the ability to build even bigger bonfires of cash if he wanted to reach Barbour-ous levels of comp)
